Convenient key free entry
from Alexandria, VA, United States
Comments about Kwikset Kevo Bluetooth Deadbolt - Satin Nickel:
I have had the Kevo 1st generation Bluetooth lock for 6 months now, and occasional glitch aside, I have been very happy. My phone remains in my pocket and when I touch the lock it will lock or unlock depending on the current status. Moreover, I can assign virtual keys with set schedules for others in household, guests, and service professionals. With the wireless router accessory , I am also able to lock and unlock the door for guest when I am away. Unfortunately it is not perfect, and sometimes the bezel does not react to touch, or it spins endlessly. When that happens I just need to close and restart the app. I highly recommend this lock as it also gives you a physical key alternative.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Never carry a key again...
from Toronto, ON, Canada
Was given the lock as a gift and thought it slightly silly but I'm entirely grateful now as I rarely if ever take my keys with me. So easy to tap and lock as I leave with a handful. Very slick little devise.
Very Cool Lock
from Missoula, MT
I have been using this lock for several months now and I love it. One recommendation I have if you buy this is to follow the directions closely. If you do it will work great. Skim through them or skip any steps and you will have trouble with it. Follow them exactly and you will love this lock!
Locks by itself
from Nevada, United States
I thought I would love this lock. It's a great concept but it locks itself sometimes all by itself. I have been outside sitting in the garage and thankfully did not have the door closed all the way. Next thing I hear is the lock locking all by itself.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Works well and convenient!
from Reston, VA, United States
I bought this because many times my hands are full and I have my keys in my pocket. With a touch my door is open and I am in my house. One item is I would love to see is the wireless key options worked with Android smartphones. I hope the next version of product does. Other than that it has functioned well.

key fob works when it wants to, range sucks on android phone, pretty much have to set phone on deadbolt for it to unlock, , why cant I send an e-key link to a cell #?
Good Bluetooth lock
from Phoenix, AZ, United States
I installed multiples of this lock in my home and find that they are reliable and good working. PRO: Easy to install. Works as advertised. Ekeys are a breeze to send and revoke. CON: Had to also purchase the Bluetooth to Internet adapter so that I could lock and unlock when not at home. Would be great if this was integrated. The touch to unlock can be too sensitive. At a recent party at my house I ended up taking the batteries out of the lock as guests inadvertently touched the lock causing it to lock and unlock repeatedly. A more determined press and hold would have been a better implementation. Overall: I would still recommend this lock for anyone dipping their toes into home automation as they do deliver solid functionality.

I purchased this a year ago and it has exceeded my expectations.
Great concept, implementation needs work
It started because I got a car with keyless entry. It was great. Then I wanted keyless entry into my house. When this device works - it is exactly what I want. Unfortunately, it probably does NOT work more than it works. By not work, I mean: It takes multiple touches to open the door. Sometimes, it just outright refuses to open, and I have to fall back to using the physical key. In the meantime, I've been sweating in my hot garage waiting to see if it would decide to open or not. Also, given that keys are now electronic, Kwikset needs to do away with the cost for extra e-keys. I do not make nearly the use of some of the other abilities (namely sharing keys with others) because of this. Overall, I DO like the Kevo, but they have got to come up with a better way to more accurately detect you when locking/unlocking. I did some reading on the second generation Kevo, and even contacted them by email, but sadly, no information I received suggested the accuracy of detection was improved in the new device.
Great idea but wish it operated better

The convince is great but it can be too sensitive and turn the lock without even touching the cylinder. So some times it seems like it's not connecting. Also there is a short delay that can be aggravating.
