Locks by itself
from Nevada, United States
Comments about Kwikset Kevo Bluetooth Deadbolt - Venetian Bronze:
I thought I would love this lock. It's a great concept but it locks itself sometimes all by itself. I have been outside sitting in the garage and thankfully did not have the door closed all the way. Next thing I hear is the lock locking all by itself.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Works well and convenient!
from Reston, VA, United States
I bought this because many times my hands are full and I have my keys in my pocket. With a touch my door is open and I am in my house. One item is I would love to see is the wireless key options worked with Android smartphones. I hope the next version of product does. Other than that it has functioned well.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

key fob works when it wants to, range sucks on android phone, pretty much have to set phone on deadbolt for it to unlock, , why cant I send an e-key link to a cell #?
Good Bluetooth lock
from Phoenix, AZ, United States
I installed multiples of this lock in my home and find that they are reliable and good working. PRO: Easy to install. Works as advertised. Ekeys are a breeze to send and revoke. CON: Had to also purchase the Bluetooth to Internet adapter so that I could lock and unlock when not at home. Would be great if this was integrated. The touch to unlock can be too sensitive. At a recent party at my house I ended up taking the batteries out of the lock as guests inadvertently touched the lock causing it to lock and unlock repeatedly. A more determined press and hold would have been a better implementation. Overall: I would still recommend this lock for anyone dipping their toes into home automation as they do deliver solid functionality.

I purchased this a year ago and it has exceeded my expectations.
Great concept, implementation needs work
It started because I got a car with keyless entry. It was great. Then I wanted keyless entry into my house. When this device works - it is exactly what I want. Unfortunately, it probably does NOT work more than it works. By not work, I mean: It takes multiple touches to open the door. Sometimes, it just outright refuses to open, and I have to fall back to using the physical key. In the meantime, I've been sweating in my hot garage waiting to see if it would decide to open or not. Also, given that keys are now electronic, Kwikset needs to do away with the cost for extra e-keys. I do not make nearly the use of some of the other abilities (namely sharing keys with others) because of this. Overall, I DO like the Kevo, but they have got to come up with a better way to more accurately detect you when locking/unlocking. I did some reading on the second generation Kevo, and even contacted them by email, but sadly, no information I received suggested the accuracy of detection was improved in the new device.
Great idea but wish it operated better
from NY, United States
The convince is great but it can be too sensitive and turn the lock without even touching the cylinder. So some times it seems like it's not connecting. Also there is a short delay that can be aggravating.

Tho I looked expectantly towards the Kevo deadbolt, I am not impressed. After the Iphone 7 upgrade, it has been downhill ever since. Had to call tech support a number of times, 2 replacements and the bolt still doesn't function as it should. Most times, I have to wait in front of the door until the bolt sync's with my iphone. Many times, It is quicker just using the key. If I have to reach into my pocket and pull out my phone to bring it near the device, I might as well just use the key. Sad but true. I really would like a refund....
Very nice when it works
from Bellevue, PA, United States
I really like the design and when it works. I on going on my 4th replacement (yes the forth - the fifth lock change) set to me by the manufacturer. I hope this on works consistently and properly. The have stood behind the warranty. If this does not have the bugs worked out. I will try a different lock.
Cool idea but just not ready
from Fort Worth, TX, United States
Cool idea but still needs work. Fob keys are not always working and the iOS app hasn't been working well with me since ios9 and I've had nothing but headaches. The trick is kinda the same process as taking out your keys. I just open the KÄ""vo app and I walk up to the door and finally I was able to get it to unlock. Leaving the phone/fob key in you pocket has been a big headache and it doesn't always work for me. Installation is really easy and the end results make you feel like you have an awesome looking house especially when people ask how you opened the door without keys. It's a cool idea it's just not ready yet and needs improvements.
