Space Saving But Space Missed
from Tallahassee, FL, United States
Comments about LG 20.9 Cu. Ft. French Door Refrigerator - Stainless Steel:
I just love seeing my new refrigerator every time I walk in to the kitchen! I chose a counter depth model this time, as my kitchen is galley style, and previous refrigerators always stuck out too far in to the corridor. That said, things inside are a little tight. I wish the produce drawers were larger and deeper. They won't accommodate a large cabbage or an untrimmed stalk of celery. The middle produce drawer is nice but I would rather the space was added to the two other drawers. The lower full-width drawer for deli items only pulls out half way so you will have to sweep your hand to the back to find things, and sometimes you find something you forgot was in there. A brochure I looked at shows one shelf having a flip-up feature to make room for tall items, but I did not receive such a shelf. All my shelves are slide-out, a feature I find to be pointless with such a shallow fridge, but also a nuisance, as sometimes when you grab something from an upper shelf, it catches on the high front lip and you pull the shelf out with the item. Because the long drawer on the bottom sticks out as much as it does, the bottom door shelves are smaller than the other door shelves, making them harder to access and less useful. The door bins are not infinitely adjustable and the 1/2" in-turning lip at the top of each bin robs space. I would rather have another open bin rather than a dairy bin with hinged cover. Also, this fridge is only available in stainless steel. I would have been happy with a color, especially if it lowered the price.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Great looking, very quiet, well thought-out layout
from San Luis Obispo, CA, United States
There aren't a lot of choices in refrigerators that are counter-depth without through-the-door ice and water. Because of our kitchen design and the bad through-the-door ice and water experience we had with our last refrigerator, that’s exactly what we wanted. This LG fit the bill perfectly. Pros: really great looking; excellent interior layout, especially the shelves and drawers; smooth working doors; good lighting; very quiet, (it's hard to tell when it's running); and an overall impression of quality fit and finish. Cons: the price (why do all the counter depth units cost more?). Lots of fragile looking plastic parts on the inside. (Nothing has broken yet, but we're treating everything with kid gloves.) Will it be reliable? Only time will tell. But so far, we really love this refrigerator.

About Me Casual Cook
Excellent fridge, very quiet, looks great. It's great for small kitchens. They placed the icemaker in the freezer, so you have more storage space inside the doors, which is great. It also comes with 10 year warranty.
Very impressed with this refrigerator!

Other than the extra expense due to the counter depth size, we are very pleased with this refrigerator. A favorite feature is opening both doors which allow for party platters or large dishes. Also like the middle drawer which we put breakfast fruits, yogurt and often used items so it is not necessary to open the large top doors. Freezer interior drawers are convenient too. Really like the sleek appearance as well! Two of our friends are already looking into replacing their refrigerators and purchasing this one!

After looking at many models and makes of refrigerators, I finally decided on the LG. I was looking for a fridge with just an icemaker and not a water dispenser. This one seemed to fit the bill. I love the large spacious freezer at the bottom ,compared to other manufacturers. The linear compressor was also a selling feature for me. I have had it for about two months now and just love it. The only bad feature is that my washer & dryer are also in my kitchen next to the fridge. They look so old now next to the nice shiny stainless fridge. Now my next purchase will be a new LG washer and dryer.
Made a mistake
By Expensive Lesson
from Montauk NY
I only had this refrigerator a week so I really have not tested all the features. The refrigerator looks great and is quiet but I made a mistake on the size. When I researched refrigerators I focused on outside dimensions to fit thru the front door and not on capacity. Since they can easily take off the doors I could have bought a large version of this model. This fridge does not meet our needs since it holds less than our old fridge. The freezer only has two compartments and you only have easy access to the food on the top.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Overall good refrigerartor

Expensive just because counter depth, otherwise a good refrigerator. I would prefer larger vegetable bins by eliminating small middle bin and option to eliminate full width drawer. I find the interior too cut up and would prefer more flexibility. I still prefer having freezer on top. Also, finding young children can not access the lower shelves easily to help themselves due to freezer on the bottom.

Really happy with this product, little expensive just because you want a counter depth, but overall worth the money. We were worried about storage space but this fridge has plenty of room for our family of two. very easy to keep clean inside and outside. Ice maker works great and there is no need to buy water filters as this model does not have one which is a money saver in itself.
Best counter depth refrigerator we could find
from Midland, MI
We were limited in choice by the space vacated by the dying old refrigerator. We wanted a bottom freezer and french doors, without the potential headache that ice and water dispensers bring. This was it. It took some time adjusting the shelves just so as the door shelves do not but it works perfectly for our needs now. The door on the left with the lip often will not close properly unless you tuck the lip in especially when both doors are open but it is another friendly reminder at mindfulness which I find quite welcome.
Looks and works great

However...Why have two doors if you have to open them both to get to the "Cheese/platter" drawer or to the middle veg. drawer? The door shelves are not adjustable which means if you want to put an opened wine bottle in the fridge, you have to make one shelf very low, taking up a lot of space. The light on the top is in the way. Why not make it flush? I still haven't figured out how to get the cheese drawer out for cleaning as the doors do not open to 90degrees. And last but not least if you are not in the kitchen the open door alarm is inaudible. Otherwise I love it. Oh. also. it is a shame that those of us replacing smaller units in homes with smaller doors have to pay more (twice the price for 25% less space) There is no competition for counter depth. Also, how about a wine rack for this unit?
