Very good features, but horrible racks
Comments about LG 24" Built-In Dishwasher - Stainless Steel:
I have had the dishwasher for about a year. The dishwasher is very quiet and runs well. It has good mechanical features which would make it reliable. An example is the inverter controlled motor, which is backed by a long 10 year warranty. The manufacturers have confidence in their product. There is a list of well thought out design features. The main problem is he badly designed racks which make it very difficult to load dishes. Large dinner plates will not stay upright on the bottom rack, but flop forward badly, because of the short length of the vertical tines. I load them in the upper rack. The wire cage at the left hand side in the back is spaced 3 inches apart, so that glasses cannot be held up, and tilt below the bottom. Old fashioned glasses cannot be loaded in the bottom cage because they dangle and knock against each other. In the bottom rack, the dishes are loaded sideways to the front, and when you move the rack, they go rolling away. I am not sure if the designer of the rack had any experience loading dishes. The bottom of the top rack at each side is very steeply angled, and does not support smaller smaller items. Stacking racks becomes a regular nuisance. otherwise this would be a great dishwasher.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Dishwasher looks good, but we had this unit for almost 4 years. The top rack has rusted with in the first year. LG replaced it and the 2nd rack rusted as well. It does not heat the water like it should and no matter the detergent used, it leave all glasses spotted and unclean. Look elsewhere for a dishwasher.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Attractive and quiet

It appears that to be energy effecient there is no built in heating element. This means that given the low volume of water used, if the dishwasher is very far from the hot water heater, the water will be luke warm. This will cause problems long term with buildup of the chemicals in the diswasher detergent. You will need to let your sink hot water run until it is hot to get the best performance. The manual which came with the unit is not for that machine and I have not been able to find one online so far. No obvious way to disassemble and clean the jet arms or filter. Eventually all dishwashers need this to maintain optimum performance.
Even with Jetdry dishes are cloudy and not clean
from Whittier, CA, USA
I've had this dishwasher for over a year and I am not satisfied. My dishes are cloudy and many times do not get clean. I've had to hand wash in vinegar and water several times to get the dishes to look clean. Features available are pretty minimal. I had to purchase a "short" dishwasher due to the space in the cabinet, which did not allow me many choices in dishwashers.Beware of repair service providers- read the expected charges and warranty information carefully.
QUIET AND EXCELLENT FUNCTIONALITY AND FEATURES!
from Warroad, MN
I am so happy that my old dishwasher broke. This is my favorite appliance in our home. It has awesome features and is VERY QUIET. My last machine would run at night and it sounded like a freight train coming through the kitchen. I don't even hear this machine running. I love it!
THE SILENCE OF THIS DISHWASHER MAKES YOU THINK YOU HAVE FORGOTTEN TO TURN ON THE APPLIANCE! GREAT DISHWASHER AND I CAN TELL YOU FROM EXPERIENCE THAT THIS MACHINE IS TOPS COMPARED TO OTHER MACHINES!
A bit hard to use
from Columbus, IN, USA
First, this dishwasher, when on the right setting and with rinse aid, gets the dishes clean; although don't expect it to produce sparkling clean dishes from food-caked dishes. My biggest disappointment is the way the top rack is designed. After 2 1/2 months of use, we still can't figure out how to use it to make our dishes fit. It doesn't help that most of the rows are angled and, therefore, small plates shift around and tall glasses and wine goblets rub the inside wall (and then fall over) as the rack is being pushed back into the dishwasher. Also, the bottom rack comes off it's track very easily (and often) but is not as easy to put it back in it's track. I do like having the extra height available on the top rack so more delicate, bulky items can fit.

Three items don't seem to go with the rest of the machine quality: 1. 3 part utensil box doesn't stay together, is cheaply made, and doesn't fit very well in the washer. Also the carrying handle doesn't fold down for some reason. 2. the uprights In the bottom section fold down flat by themselves after each wash. Why???? You have to re right them before the next wash. 3. No finished light so its hard to tell if the dishes were done or are still dirty. All in all, its one of those products which makes me wonder if the engineers ever tried out the product after they designed it.
LG Dishwasher Love It
from Centennial, CO, USA
I love the dishwasher it loads more and I can put my oversized platters on the bottom. I like the adjustable tines on the both racks although they drop down too easy sometimes. I love the kid setting feature we have my grand kids and the little one is into pushing buttons. It runs so quiet. Dries well leaving no spots. I like the drying feature without the heating element it may take longer to dry but I don't have to handle really hot dishes if I am in a hurry to unload the dishes.
