worst appliance I've ever purchased
from Dundee, MI, United States
Comments about LG 4.5 Cu. Ft. Top Loading Washer - White:
learn to love your error codes because you'll see them a LOT! UE, OE?, FE????? Large capacity washer that you can only was a few garments at a time so ours is running pretty much all day long. You can put two dishrags in there and you'll get an unbalanced load. Horrible
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Avoid at all costs

This is definitely NOT an efficient washing machine and I'm frustrated every time laundry needs washed. It errors out every single load. I load the washer according to the manual and have followed the troubleshooting information provided to address the errors. Out of desperation I contacted the home improvement store (still under warranty). The repairman ran diagnostics on the machine and said it's "working according to the manufacturer's specifications" and was informed there was noting that could be done. It is very annoying that it takes an entire afternoon (several hours) to just get a load to finish...only to then carry the very heavy load in 2 separate laundry baskets to hang the clothes on the clothesline. The load I hung up today was dripping wet because the washer doesn't effectively spin out the excess water. If I could assign a negative score to this washer I would.
2015 LG top load washer review
By teed off in NJ
had 3 machines in 49 years - with agitators - ALL GE's - never an issue (besides getting loud after 20 yrs or so). Purchased the LG top loader in 2015, we have yet to have a clean load of laundry. Same household, less people (empty nest). Was fooled by the "noise reduction", although it plays a song before and after the hour and a half session. I did a test with a lint filled towel folded in a square, came out in same shape, llnt included. Now after going to laundromat for blankets, etc., i remember how real machines and clean laundry used to be. BTW, not just complaining - will find out about possible repairs, maybe i have a dud. Buyer beware.

If I could give this washer a negative I would. It is impossible to finish a load of wash. Always out of balance, even on an empty cycle. Keeps adding water and time, then it stops with an error. We have to let it stop, turn off water, do a spin only cycle until it errors out. Then put very wet clothes in the dryer. Avoid at all costs.
This washer is horrible. ...

This washer is horrible. STAY FAR AWAY. We spend hours upon hours just trying to get ONE load of laundry done. It continuously runs water, pops up the UE error message, and runs for hours on end without draining. I am extremely disappointed in this product and would strongly recommend NOT buying it. As a mom with an infant I do not have time to spend all day on one load of laundry.

Very disappointed - I'm in "UE" pergatory!
from Denver, CO, United States
I actually purchased this washer in 2013. I read the user manual and understood that you had to be careful to avoid uneven loads, and for the first two years it wasn't much of an issue. It would only go through its ridiculous redistribution process when it was truly uneven. But starting about a year ago, it is a constant battle. Anything less that half a load, regardless of settings, sends into its "uneven" marathon. It will take hours, waste a ton of water and then eventually shut off and flash UE. Efficient it is NOT. It is the most frustrating appliance I have ever owned. When I open the lid, it's not even uneven! I redistribute it by hand, try starting it back up on just "rinse and spin" or just "spin", and then say a prayer to the appliance gods that maybe, just maybe this time it will work. It is a waste of my time, water, electricity and money!

Terrible Washing Machine
from New Orleans, LA, United States
Continually shows Uneven no matter what type of load. I have to stand guard over the machine to manually re-balance so that it does not continually fill back up with water and restart. Wastes so much water! We have tried leveling and vibration pads with no success. I will never buy another LG product again.

nice big washer
from Jacksonville, NC, United States
i use my washer two to three times a week and with the large capacity the number of loads is reduced I like the fact that if i need a small load it is load sensing and will adjust the waer level on its own.
Very hard getting used to. No agitator, long wash times, etc. Still seems like clothes don't clean quite like an "agitator" machine. However, the functions and ease of use are very good. Now OK after adjusting to it.
