Explanation of Steam Function non-existent
from Texas, United States
Comments about LG 9.0 Cu. Ft. Gas Dryer w/ Steam Cycles - White:
No cogent explanation in manual. I tried the steam function but am using trial and error to determine the parameters for this feature. LG marketing touts steam as a huge advantage but the implementation is flawed due to lack of explanation.Seems like a good product otherwise.

Have had the dryer for several months. Am disappointed with a few things. First, items are not always dried when the proper cycle is chosen. When you try to select it again to dry it will only run for a few seconds and shut off sensing the clothes are dry when they are not. I've even tried switching to another cycle and the machine stops just the same. So I end up with slightly wet items that i have to put outside or hang up to dry. The panel lights are really hard to read. The steam cycle does not take wrinkles out of clothes that you want to remove without having to iron like my old machine did. The lint trap is flimsy. Lastly the since the washer does not always get clothes etc smelling really fresh, when they are dried, there is now a constant odor after running the dryer like slightly soiled clothes. Mind you I'm an extra clean freak and wash clothes after wearing one time. So I''m not talking about stuff sitting around stinky for days or a week!
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Well-built and poor user controls
from Littleton, CO, United States
Why does a dryer of this price caliber claim in the owner's manual to have an "...illuminated control panel" (p. 11) when it doesn't? It is almost impossible to read and to set the functions without a flashlight! If LG wanted to go cheap they could have simply used a light panel with dark labels! The fact that a later model has an LED display is proof that this model is poorly designed, and the online LG image misrepresents the display as clearly readable. IT IS NOT! I rate this machine "average" because in spite of this major user shortcoming it seems to be well built, easy to install, runs smoothly and does a fine job...sad that LG skimped on the most important user aspect of the machine.
A dryer for all my clothes
from Salt Lake City, UT, United States
Finally, a dryer with a variety of settings that actually lets me dry all my different fabrics at the right settings! I don't have to worry about my specialty items being ruined by too high of temperatures or too rough of tumbling. And everything always comes out dry, I never have things come out with damp spots.
Overall great product

I got this for Christmas. While that might not seem like a great present when it cuts the number of laundry loads in half, uses less water and dries faster without needing to dry on a hot setting it is the best Christmas ever. Absolutely love it. Now I don't mind doing laundry. And we are using way less detergent and shout to get the stains out of our boys clothes
Finally a steam dryer

Finally got a new dryer and what a difference... Clothes smell much better and can dry anything because the capacity is huge.

works great so far (6 months) handles the clothes for our family of 6 children with one on the way with ease. only thing missing is a maid to keep it running while we homeschool the children :)
Lots of features - doesn't dry
from Arlington, VA, United States
I just contacted support regarding this dryer. It was leaving lots of loads damp. We did troubleshooting and nothing was wrong. I was then told to use Time Dry for mixed loads. Basically, the message was that the sensor is over sensitive and senses dry items in mixed loads, and shuts the cycle down. All these extra sensors, and the dryer is dumb.
