Disappointment and expensive repairs!
from Los Angeles
Comments about Maytag 2.0 Cu. Ft. Front Loading Washer - White:
Decided to get this washer and purchased an additional consumer protection/warranty plan thru the retailer in the Los Angeles area.Within a couple of years, the knob broke when choosing a wash selection, and now the User interface needs replacement. This is not covered by Maytag or the protection/warranty plan. Cost to fix is estimated at least $300!Have never had this happen with any other washer I've owned!

No. Just no.
from North Carolina
I have owned this washer for thirteen months. The other day, the clean cycle would not perform due to "F22" error code. Based on my research, this indicates that the door latch mechanism is faulty or the connection is loose. This machine costs twice what a traditional top loader does, and cleans about as well as beating your clothes on a rock at the river. I have followed the usage instructions exactly regarding load size, detergent, wiping excess water out of the door seals, and leaving the door open when not in use to reduce odors. While it doesn't smell, I would put up with a little residual odor in the laundry room if the thing were dependable. I had to purchase this model because the size of my laundry room under the stairs will not accommodate a standard sized washer. If you are considering this washer because of size constraints, look at other brands- this is a purchase I regret.
Don't buy a Maytag II
from Novato, CA
I've had lots of washing machines in my time. Recently moved to a small condo and bought a stacking washer/dryer that were maytag. This makes Kenmore look like a high end product. I've had installers check the installation twice and the hoses bang on the wall when it's working. Also you push the start button and it doesn't start for another 30 seconds or so. It washes ok but makes a lot of noise. I have people upstairs so I can only do washing during hours when noise is ok. I had a Maytag refrigerator in my last home that was horrible and made a lot of noise also. I should've known....

Extremely frustrating; functioned poorly...shredded a
from tallahassee florida
I purchased a Maytag Compact Washer 14 months ago. This is my third Maytag washer; two previously owned machines each lasted for over 20 years. This last purchase has been a nightmare; requiring repair within the first week of purchase. It has functioned poorly since. Extreme difficulty starting, often taking 30 to 45 minutes for the wash cycle to start; water left in bottom of drum; frequent error messages; towels always smelled moldy after washing; Final straw; literally shredded a well-made, white cotton shirt after washing; This garment was washed multiple times, and did not require any special washing instructions. There were also detergent stains on the front of the shirt. Within a week of this incident, I washed a blanket and towels. The washer stopped mid cycle for no apparent reason, leaving a soaked blanket and towels in the water-filled drum. The machine has not worked since and a repair person is scheduled to arrive tomorrow, days later. I am hoping to attach pictures of the shredded garment to this review. Minimum expectations: the machine must start and not be unpredictable in this regard, such that over 90% of the time the machine fails to start and requires multiple attempts before starting. There should not be repeated random error messages that end the wash cycle, only to start again hours later without prompting. I expect for this price: a problem free appliance for minimum of 10 years; tolerate minor issues after 5 years; total non-function after 18 years. Clothes, towels, blankets smelling fresh and clean after washing; maintaining garment integrity, in fabric and color. Should not leave garments smelling musty and looking dingy. Garments should never be destroyed while washing, unless the owner failed to follow proper washing instructions.

My worst home purchase in 45 years!
from tallahassee, florida
Since day 1; press start, and 4 to 5 minutes later it either started or cut off; if it cut off, I knew I was in for a 20 to 30 minutes ordeal...holding the start button and praying I'd get the laundry done that day, UNPREDICTABLE..and DESTRUCTIVE MOST RECENT EXPERIENCE...THIS MACHINE LITERALLY TORE THE ARM OF LINEN/COTTON BLEND WHITE SHIRT TO SHREDS... I HAVE NO IDEA HOW THIS FEAT WAS ACCOMPLISHED WITHOUT AN AGITATOR IN THE DRUM. THIS IS MY 3RD WASHING MACHINE..TWO PRIOR MACHINES LASTED 20+ YEARS EACH. THIS IS GOING TO THE DUMP.
Don't last long.

The washer first broke down 6 months after purchase. It broke again just before a year. So, I purchased their extended warranty. The repair service that takes the extended warranty is horrible, One guy didn't want to fix it and told me it would fix itself once we moved washer closer to the drainage. It took a few visits from the same repair service to figure out what needed to be fixed. Once it's fixed, many parts replaced, we are still getting A10 error message. Since the extended warranty expired and many reviewers wrote it only lasted a few years, I'm throwing the machine out.
Does not drain, needs replacement: three years old!

Nobody can fix my three-year old Maytag. I have called three technicians and all of them knew the problem with this machine: it does not spin properly. It leaves my clothes wet, I have to wring them before I put them in the dryer. Nothing can be done about it. I am so disappointed, I have never had a washing machine that lasted only three years!!! Does not even have a cold cycle, so I have to wash many things by hand. Grrr!
DO NOT BUY A MAYTAG!
from Summit, NJ
So disappointed with my Maytag Front Loader. After 3 years it starting giving me the E2 F3 error code. After 3 service calls and $300 in fees, I've been told that it's the circuit board and that MAYBE that will fix the problem! Except I have to pay $200 for the part and another $117 for the service call?! And yes, like the other review, the repairman spent no more than 5 minutes, and most of that was on his computer "looking things up". I only bought this washer because of the brand name, what a huge huge mistake!
from Freeland md
Bought this unit 2yrs ago, worked good no complaints for 6 months, then it happened could not get it to spin. Left it off went to laundry mat for 2 weeks before repairman showed up. Young inexperienced he searched utube to take apart, cleared codes he said, worked great for 2 days then the same, sometimes it spins sometimes not, we clean it quite often and it seems to help, tired of messing with it, going to purchase a new compact front loader, and it willNOT be Maytag!!!!!
So far, really happy with my washer
from Tampa, FL
Even though I had to have my washer replaced after 10 months I am really happy with how this little washer performs. It is really good at balancing the loads and can handle more laundry than you think it would. Love it, love it, love it.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
