from NYC, NY
Comments about Maytag 2.0 Cu. Ft. Front Loading Washer - White:
Bought the washer for about two years, failed a year ago, repaired and now failed again! Very poor reliability of such an expensive equipment.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Problem with a 2013 unit
I have this unit from 2013, it was at the condo that I purchased. It's only 3 years old, however the main board just went. We had a service man come up, he told us that this part is not being produced anymore. We also had similar problems with this unit when it was 1 yr since the purchase as described by others, i.e flashing lights, not wanting to start, door would not lock/drain. All this according to the repairman is because of the main board. Prior to this I had Whirlpool for 10 years that never skipped a beat, and probably still going at my old place. I have a Maytag dryer, but thinking will just exchange the whole thing, and go with a different company, as this seems very problematic.
THIS "DEPENDABLE" COMPANY ISN'T--NO SUPPORT
from Mountain View, CA
Relying on the MAYTAG advertising about how well made and dependable their products are, I bought this lemon. Now that I've researched a bit, mine is not the only that has failed. It's obvious that MAYTAG has built a pretty looking, but worthless machine. There are reviews after reviews about failures to start, to show any lights, to drain etc. All caused, I believe, by failure of the Central Control Unit which, if you could find one (even MAYTAG doesn't have any) would cost you close to $400. My washing machine is about two years old. Even if I thought it OK to have to replace a washer after two years, it can't be done. Maytag (probably because of all the failures) has discontinued the item as well as its replacement parts. They don't stand behind the product. So now, do I buy a competitor's product---then what do I do with the MAYTAG dryer that probably won't stack on the other machine. I am very tempted to sue. Paying close to $50/month for the use of a non-functioning product is absurd. MAYTAG's entire story is a lie.

I bought two sets of this washer/dryer set 18 months ago. One for my home and one for a rental condo. The "clean washer" cycle never worked. The washer would also hesitate to start with the light blinking and nothing happening with the door remaining locked. As another reviewer said I would leave it sit and come back later! My washer was picked up for repairs and I was told it needs a new computer board/panel. Two months later now I find out the company does not have the parts for this model and it is discontinued! Thank god I had purchased extended warranty as the washer will be replaced at no cost to me. If I hadn't I would be buying a new washer paying 100% of the costs and it never worked when it left the factory. Very disappointed as now my only other option is an Electrolux because of the size of my space. Yes, this machine is a lemon!!!!!
This washing machine never starts. You have to sit and push
Will never buy a Maytag washer again!
My washer is a Lemon
from Columbus Ohio
I have a simple maytag model to this one and I believe it is a lemon. It has eaten THOUSANDS of dollars worth of clothes. We call to have service and they can't find anything wrong. I have called customer service multiple times to tell them I believe it is a lemon and got no where. Do not buy a maytag front loader. You can kiss all your clothes good bye because it will tear up anything you like.

Worst washer ever made
from Vallejo, Ca
My landlord bought this compact washer a year ago. In the beginning, it worked fine. Then after a few washes, it started acting up. In the beginning of a wash, the door locked light is solid red, the green start light is on and 30 minutes on the screen. Then, it stalls for a minute. Then, the door locked light starts blinking. After a few times of this, I just give up and try again in a day or two. When it finally cooperates, it's like winning the lottery.I don't recommend this washer at all.

HORRIBLE QUALITY AND DEPENDABILITY
from Stone Harbor NJ
If there was a LOWER rating, I would give it to this washer. It only worked for less than a year total and I have had 2 service calls. I contacted Maytag because now it needs over $1000 worth of computer boards. Maytag said they would do nothing since it is out of warranty. So much for Maytag dependability. I will NEVER purchase another Maytag.
Disappointment and expensive repairs!
from Los Angeles
Decided to get this washer and purchased an additional consumer protection/warranty plan thru the retailer in the Los Angeles area.Within a couple of years, the knob broke when choosing a wash selection, and now the User interface needs replacement. This is not covered by Maytag or the protection/warranty plan. Cost to fix is estimated at least $300!Have never had this happen with any other washer I've owned!
No. Just no.
from North Carolina
I have owned this washer for thirteen months. The other day, the clean cycle would not perform due to "F22" error code. Based on my research, this indicates that the door latch mechanism is faulty or the connection is loose. This machine costs twice what a traditional top loader does, and cleans about as well as beating your clothes on a rock at the river. I have followed the usage instructions exactly regarding load size, detergent, wiping excess water out of the door seals, and leaving the door open when not in use to reduce odors. While it doesn't smell, I would put up with a little residual odor in the laundry room if the thing were dependable. I had to purchase this model because the size of my laundry room under the stairs will not accommodate a standard sized washer. If you are considering this washer because of size constraints, look at other brands- this is a purchase I regret.
