Maytag is NOT DEPENDABLE
from West Hempstead, NY
Comments about Maytag 2.0 Cu. Ft. Front Loading Washer - White:
As I had previously owned this model and I needed to replace it was 8 years old and tech said it wasn't worth fixing, I purchased the same as my basement stairwell is very narrow. My machine is not yet 2 years old and it broke. F2 and F6 codes, lights up but won't operate. The tech said it is the main computer and would cost $450 to fix!I can't afford the repair and I am still paying for this machine. I can't get a human being on the phone but tried the live chat. They weren't helpful at all and said they could offer a discount on another machine. I would never buy Maytag again! I will contact the BBB and other consumer groups with my complaints. Maytag should stand behind their product, especially with so many people having the same problem!
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Not so great.
from W. Harwich, MA
We have had many of the same problems that others have mentioned (flashing lights, won't start, clothes still overly damp after spin cycle, not very user friendly) and the latest is the start button is recessed into the machine and won't start the cycle. Bought this based on the Maytag name and have not been pleased, with the performance. Time to start looking for another brand. Very disappointed.

Nothing but troubles
We've had this machine 1 yr 10 mos and it has fully died. However we had problems with it from the very beginning having to manually drain it ~1/month. This machine is awful. I wouldn't buy a Maytag again.
This machine lasted one year and one month! Horrible!
from Burnaby, B.C.
First off, Maytag washer Model MHWC7500YW is common to have issues around a year time. It broke down at our caretaker's home also and I have no idea how many units (out of close to 300 units in our building) had problems with machine. Mine broke down exactly 1/2 month past warranty. Called for service @ 18008076777 (Canada) since we're located in Burnaby B.C. and was quoted $129+tax for first 15 minutes of service and $29+ tax for each additional 15 mins. Parts are extra of course. My old top-load GE washer lasted 25 years and was still working fine prior to our move in to this new building. Apparently A10 error code, draining problem, is very common error among these models. I had to give one star which this machine obviously doesn't deserve. Buy this ONLY if you have deep pocket to afford the over $200 of service charges.

I purchased this machine in 2013 along with the matching dryer. I have been having problems with the flashing lights, not wanting to start, door would not lock/drain, not able to cancel, spin cycle does not sufficiently extract the water doesn't go into high speed spin. The first repairman replaced the pump but the problem still continued. I had a new service man come in, he told me told me that it was the main board and to replace would exceed the cost of a new machine. That is if he could find the part. If the machine is still being sold why wouldn't parts be available for it. Why are the so expensive.

Used about 2 years now doesn't work said that it is an electronic problem call repair. After reading all the other reviews I don't think it is worth it

Only two years, failed twice
from NYC, NY
Bought the washer for about two years, failed a year ago, repaired and now failed again! Very poor reliability of such an expensive equipment.
Problem with a 2013 unit
I have this unit from 2013, it was at the condo that I purchased. It's only 3 years old, however the main board just went. We had a service man come up, he told us that this part is not being produced anymore. We also had similar problems with this unit when it was 1 yr since the purchase as described by others, i.e flashing lights, not wanting to start, door would not lock/drain. All this according to the repairman is because of the main board. Prior to this I had Whirlpool for 10 years that never skipped a beat, and probably still going at my old place. I have a Maytag dryer, but thinking will just exchange the whole thing, and go with a different company, as this seems very problematic.
THIS "DEPENDABLE" COMPANY ISN'T--NO SUPPORT
from Mountain View, CA
Relying on the MAYTAG advertising about how well made and dependable their products are, I bought this lemon. Now that I've researched a bit, mine is not the only that has failed. It's obvious that MAYTAG has built a pretty looking, but worthless machine. There are reviews after reviews about failures to start, to show any lights, to drain etc. All caused, I believe, by failure of the Central Control Unit which, if you could find one (even MAYTAG doesn't have any) would cost you close to $400. My washing machine is about two years old. Even if I thought it OK to have to replace a washer after two years, it can't be done. Maytag (probably because of all the failures) has discontinued the item as well as its replacement parts. They don't stand behind the product. So now, do I buy a competitor's product---then what do I do with the MAYTAG dryer that probably won't stack on the other machine. I am very tempted to sue. Paying close to $50/month for the use of a non-functioning product is absurd. MAYTAG's entire story is a lie.

I bought two sets of this washer/dryer set 18 months ago. One for my home and one for a rental condo. The "clean washer" cycle never worked. The washer would also hesitate to start with the light blinking and nothing happening with the door remaining locked. As another reviewer said I would leave it sit and come back later! My washer was picked up for repairs and I was told it needs a new computer board/panel. Two months later now I find out the company does not have the parts for this model and it is discontinued! Thank god I had purchased extended warranty as the washer will be replaced at no cost to me. If I hadn't I would be buying a new washer paying 100% of the costs and it never worked when it left the factory. Very disappointed as now my only other option is an Electrolux because of the size of my space. Yes, this machine is a lemon!!!!!
