DO NOT BUY!!! SAFETY HAZARD!!!
By Not Happy

Comments about Maytag 24" Built-In Dishwasher - Stainless Steel:
I never write reviews; but I feel compelled to write one given the utterly unsatisfactory performance of this dishwasher. Plus, it is a safety hazard!!!- I have had this for only about 2 years. - After only a year, the control panel started malfunctioning - lights would keep flashing, control would keep beeping, machine wouldn't start. After searching the Internet, we have found this to be a VERY COMMON PROBLEM. We were able to reset the panel through some tips offered by other users, albeit temporarily.- Recently the machine started turning itself on in "Heat" or "Sanitize" mode. I couldn't tell which since none of the control panel lights were on. However, I could tell since the machine and our counter top were very hot (much like what it would feel like when it was running). THIS IS A SAFETY/FIRE HAZARD!- I called Maytag but this was not covered under the warranty. I got the standard "I'll send a service person to perform diagnostics". Based on what I've read from other customer experiences, this could turn out to be a very expensive proposition.Sure, the machine looks nice and sleek and has what seems to be very good features. However, its quality and performance are SO poor, Also, the noise level isn't that much different from our 15-year old GE dishwasher that we replaced - this newer model DOES NOT even come close to being QUIET.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Dishwasher shelves rusted
from Mesa AZ
Dishwasher great. At 2 1/2 years old the shelves rusted to the point of putting stains on the dishes.
Cleans great and very quiet!

I had Maytag dishwashers in my 2 previous houses and always loved the way they cleaned and sanitized my dishes. We moved into a home that came with a different brand that wasn't very old but it didn't clean well and was very loud. Because of my past positive experiences with Maytag dishwasher I had to get another one.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Short Lasting Quality

Have owned this dishwasher for 2 years and 1 month. The touch panel and control board are wrecked from water leaking into them and no longer functions. Repairman estimates $600.00 plus to repair this dishwasher. Also, from day 1, we have had white spots on all our glasses and dishes. We added apple cider vinegar to solve this, however we will not be purchasing another Maytag as the unit is not covered under warranty for defective seals. For a machine that states 10+ years of consistent use, this is pretty disappointing that it only lasted 20% of that.

So far so good. It was easy to install and the dishes are clean. Very happy with my purchase.
Don't buy it

We bought this three years ago. The control buttons are hard to read and difficult to activate. The system failed after three years and cost us $400 to repair, almost the cost of the new machine.
Sleek and Functional

I love this new dishwasher! Our old one (from the 1980s...no joke) finally gave out, so we bought this one. I know stainless steel is the popular choice, but honestly the white blends in so much better with our white cabinets and our kitchen looks sleek and seamless with the white dishwasher and hidden controls. I love all the controls and settings and that they are hidden on the top of the door. All of our dishes and pots and pans fit well into the dishwasher and I also love how clean it gets everything.

Within two years of purchasing this dishwasher, the buttons no longer function. However, this is not an issue that would be covered by the very limited warranty. After doing some internet searches on this issue, it appears that I am not alone. I cannot recommend this product.
So very sorry.....

My daughter gave this to me as a Birthday gift. To my horror, I couldn't be more disappointed. Taking 180 minutes for a normal cycle is rediculous. Really??? Two & a half hours & they don't even dry them. I want to get another dishwasher that actually works. (Like my Whirlpool that I had for 15 years). I honestly would have given it Zero stars. Sorry Maytag. I truly am.
Effective and quiet

I bought this a few weeks ago and have been very happy with its performance so far. Top rack is great even for large glasses and the silverware baskets are very handy. My only gripe is that it is hard for plates to stay upright on the bottom rack if they have a curved/raised lip.
