Don't buy this dishwasher
from Salmon, Idaho
Comments about Maytag 24" Built-In Dishwasher - Stainless Steel:
We bought this dishwasher about 18 months ago for our new home, based primarily on other good reviews we read. However, just about 1 month after the 1 year warranty ran out, the control panel started freaking out. The control lock feature would turn on and not be able to be turned off for days at a time...then suddenly it would begin working again. This went on for several months, until finally the dishwasher stopped working entirely. Googled the problem to find MANY other people with the exact same issue as we had with their Maytag dishwashers. Conveniently all beginning right about the time the warranty was out. The part..whenever I eventually find it on Maytag's terrible website, I've been told runs about $150. What a waste of money...to purchase a part that will likely fail again. I'll never buy Maytag brand anything again.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Board Fails After 2 Years - Known Issue, No Recall
from Nashville, TN
This dishwasher's front panel fails within 12 to 36 months. This is a known issue - just do a google search. Mine lasted 25 months before breaking. The issue is so widespread that when I called for a warranty repair, they were unable to fix the dishwasher because the part that is required to fix this panel issue is on national backorder.Maytag knows this is an issue, but has not addressed it by recalling the defective products. Save your money and the headaches - don't buy this dishwasher. After this experience, I'll never by Maytag again.

Though we haven't had the dishwasher long, we are very pleased with the performance and how quiet it is.

Touch pad is bad again
By Unhappy Brian
from Syracuse ny
I have a long history now with this machine and company, but I will make this short. The touch pad went out again last night and I cannot use my 21 month old dish washer. The company changed it out under warranty once and I tried to fix it myself a second time. Many many posts about the touch pad corrosion issue but Maytag won't resolve or even admitt a problem. After SEVERAL calls and surveys with them still no better now. They will send a part free of charge to an authorized repair center but I have to pay for the service charges. That will be about $200 out of my pocket for a 21 month old machine. That is NOT how you keep customers happy and want to buy more of your products.
Bought this to replace a dinosaur dishwasher we had. Washes great, definately can get hot water for cleaning.
Has Design Issue with control panel
from Livonia, MI
The control panel has an design issue with the flex ribbon wiring which burns up the wiring. I have had to replace one control panel a year age and now have to do it again. This makes two control panels failure before the dish washer is ever two year old and they cost about $150 each. Do not walk away from the product, RUN.

NEVER again buying a whirlpool family brand
By disappointed customer
from chicago, il
The control panel failed at 14 months. I did product research and read reviews prior to purchase, but of course there were not reviews about this issues because they change the models so quickly and it takes awhile for this malfunction to arise. Customer service offered a scripted response and will not back up it's product. I requested a new machine that did not have this design flaw, and maytag only offered to remind me that it is past its warranty and I would need to have it serviced independently.

Second Time the controll panel went out
from Atlanta Ga
So the first time I had issues with the dishwasher, Maytag was right sent a tech to fix the issue [Control Panel] this took 2 months the get the part. Now again 12 Months latter almost to the day, Control panel is out Again!! And Again this part is on back order for 30 days. Maytag Wont Acknowledge there is a problem, when it is obvious. The design where the control ribbon runs, is over the vent, this causes the copper wiring to oxidize and loose continuity. Also every time you pull the handle to open the washer the handle presses against the ribbon.
BROKEN CONTROL PANEL AFTER 14 MONTHS
from Orlando Fl
Had purchased on the strength of Maytag brand...WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT THEY REPAIRED ONCE AND BROKE AGAIN IN THE SAME TIME FRAME.Now we know why discontinued.
Does the job.
We've had it for 2 years and does a great job quietly. Had a power surge from lightning and it fried the control panel.Too bad manufacturers don't protect fragile and critical parts.
