Comments about Maytag 28.6 Cu. Ft. French Door Refrigerator - Stainless Steel:
We bought this refigerator when we moved into our new home. One year and and one month later the ice maker stops working then it stops cooling. Because the compressor was under warranty we could only use a Maytag approved repairman. He couldn't come get it until 5 days later. 15 days and $625 later it was returned with a new evaporator and new compressor. Now about 2 weeks after it was returned it is doing the same thing again. Maytag customer service said after the first time it broke that things like that happen. Wonder what she would say now!
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Regretting The Purchase

We purchased this refrigerator in Janurary. Since then, we have had the same repair man out at least 5 times in 4 months to fix a reoccuring problem with heavy frost build up in the freezer. Every time the repair man does what the Maytag engineer tells him to do, but it doesn't work. I have owned 5 refrigerators in my lifetime, and never have I had the problems that I am having with this Maytag.

Love this fridge. Like how the doors open so you can put large items (pizza boxes) in. Very quiet. Got it for a great price too.

Poor Quality Product or Lemon??

Purchased this product in February of 2013. In November of 2014, a leak developed in the sealed system. After $500 in repair costs, the leak was temporarily fixed until today when the leak reappeared. The repairman informed us that the only solution is to purchase a new refrigerator. He informed us that he has had six similar complaints on the same model in his service area. And his idea is that poor quality tubing was used in this model that resulted in many pin holes that allowed the coolant to leak. We have contacted the company for a resolution with no results. This would appear to be within the "Lemon Law." Very, very poor performance on product.

This is a great refrigerator. It's got a lot of room in it-you can organize your food products and its quiet while running.

I bought this refrigerator 2 years ago. Before the warranty went out we started having issues. !2 months later and at least 6 service calls later still not fixed! Now this unit is making so much noise that it wakes me up at night! Maytag is offering to pay for labor but not parts and the service tech doesn't really want to put anymore time in this frog. because he has already basically redone everything inside. Maytag offered to give me a new frig, for 40% off but financially I can't afford that now. They said I have 10 days to decide if I want to order a new one otherwise "Oh Well, I guess" Bad customer service, after 12 months, numerous "repairs" and hours, and hours on the phone I still don't have resolve. Never Buy a Maytag again!!!!!!!!!!!

I bought this in Feb. of 2014 and the warranty was up in Feb. of 2015 by November of 2014 I had an issue with the mother board of the unit which controls the function of the whole unit. Then they replaced the mother board and then found that some blood from something that I had on the supposedly spill proof shelves had leaked on one of the sensors that controls the crisper drawers so it fried the sensor because the blood leaked into the sensor that was supposed to be sealed so that was replaced also. So then because of that I purchased the extended service plan through Maytag so after 18 months I of having the unit the dual evaporator went out on the fridge that controls the fridge and the freezer so then the extended service department had the two service people that are available in our town and they both declined the work order after both of them coming out and diagnosing the unit so I went around and around with Assurant which is the extended service plan. Was then forwarded to one of the supervisors finally and then he went ahead with the replacement part of the plan and was then offered replacement of the unit with the same unit from the warehouse, then upon them finding out that they no longer carry that same unit I was told that I had no other option but to accept the cash payout of the 75 percent of the unit and was not told that the unit that I got has been transitioned to the 27 cu. ft. fridge and was not given the option of getting a replacement of that unit. So read your contract as far as replacement goes because if that unit no longer exists than they will not give you the option of replacing the unit with a smaller one they will just tell you that the cash settlement is the only other option that they can offer. So I am giving Maytag one more go around and purchasing a Maytag again and if this situation happens again I will never purchase another Maytag again. So I will see how this new one treats me and then I will make the decision weather I will recommend Maytag to a friend because as of now I still have a sour note with them. So we will see if they will redeem my satisfaction back.

I have had this model for a year and a half.The compressor went out before I even plugged it in. After over $500 in food loss 6 service calls later and 7 months of fighting, they finally decided to replace it.Now a little over a year later and the compressor is out again.

I have had this refrigerator for two years and have had repair man out 3 times already. Very disappointed in my purchase. Will not purchase Maytag again.
