Maytag is not what it used to be :(

Comments about Maytag 3.6 Cu. Ft. Top Loading Washer - Lunar Silver:
We purchased our new Maytag washer and dryer set 3 years ago due to our over 20 year old Maytag was ready to be put down :( We stuck with Maytag for their very good quality appliances and the longevity. Unfortunately, the new washer has given us problems that have cost us over $500, and it has been the same part. The plastic agitator has been stripped 5 times in the 3 years that we have had it. We called the company to see if there is a defect on those specific machines, but have been told that they are fine. I beg to differ. It is so unfortunate that our trust in the Maytag Bravo X Washer is no more. We keep it because I don't want to sell it and give somebody else the stress of having to replace the agitator twice a year. The part costs $117 and that's too much for even us to afford. I'm now washing only 3 pairs of pants at a time and about 5/6 shirts for fear of having to spend more money. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS WASHER TO ANYBODY. Maybe another Maytag machine, just not the Bravo.

I bought this washer 4 years ago. The bottom fell out of it. When I loaded it the drum fell to the floor! Left a wear mark on the hard wood floor where the pulley rubbed it. I called Maytag. And the do not stand behind their product. It was going to cost me $60-$75 an hour plus parts. Or $320 to fix it. Or the could cell me another washer for $481. Wow!! I bought a Maytag cause I thought they stood behind their product! I was sooo wrong!!! Never buy a Maytag!

After 10+ years our washer died. Since we have had really good luck with Maytag we decided to go with another Maytag washer and dryer set. We didn't realize how worn-out our old washer was until we used this one. Our clothes were so much brighter and whiter than ever before. It was a blessing in disguise. Thanks Maytag

We purchased our washer/dryer set in 2013 and are very pleased with the performance of both EXCEPT .... this past year the washer's spin cycle sounds like a runaway train. The noise is so loud you can hear it outside when all doors are closed. We do not understand why it is suddenly making such a noise and do not see the need to spend the money to have a service person come to tell us there is nothing wrong with the machine.
I bought this less than a year ago and have already had to get a repairman out to fix it. The main problem is that it has really long cycles and it does not wash even medium sized loads very well. Forget washing sheets and bedding! Do not buy this washer

This was purchased to replace a previous Maytag washer. So far it washes well but the true test will be if it lasts long, and doesn't break down like our other one. I am happy that it came with a 10 year warranty, unlike our previous one which only came with a 1 year warranty.
Works great, but surprised issues started so soon

I bought my Bravos washer just over two years ago after having my previous Maytag washer for 23 years. It washes clothes great. However, just over a month ago it started not finishing a cycle. At first, I thought it was just unbalanced load, but now every wash is a struggle. Repairman will come for the third time and will be replacing the control panel. I am surprised that it would fail after only two years.

We bought this washer and dryer not because our old Maytag that we had for at least 10 years was broken but because it was starting to show its age. The new one was so pretty and shiny. Oh how I wish I had the old one back!! This washer barely wets the clothes on the normal cycle and really roughs the clothes up. We thought this must be a defect. We called the store where we purchased it and they sent someone out who said that is the way it is supposed to be!! He convinced us to keep it and see if we could get used to it. We went on a road trip for a month, returned and are still not happy with its performance. We don't get very dirty so I found that if I wash on the bulk cycle you get ample water. Being old we don't deal well with stress so as long as it's usable to some degree we will keep it. But Maytag, I feel so surprised that this is happening with your brand. We purchased the extended warranty in case it stops working all together.
