☺ Smart washer for smart people.
from Cape Girardeau, MO
Comments about Maytag 3.8 Cu. Ft. Top Loading Washer - White:
Easy Installation, user friendly but with a lot of washing optimization settings to chose from. Don't listen to negative reviews about this type of washer. It is perfect in design and in application. It's a smart washer for smart people. So read the manual, watch a video to learn about this machine type before you judge it or buy a different one - thinking this type is too complex or problematic.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Works as expected

Seems to wash everything as I expect. I do wish I had purchased the one with the glass lid so I could see the washer in action, but I was being cheap.

Not finishing a cycle
from Saint Paul,MN
It just keeps going and going if your not there for the done cycle it well just go back to wash I'm pretty sure you shouldn't have to sit and watch you washer machine more of a headache than what it's worth I guess I'll be sticking to a old school agitator....
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Broke In Under Two Years
from Warrenton VA
Bought this washer 18 months ago, and now it doesn't agitate, is leaking water, and makes horrible noises. Manufacturer's warranty after first year is terrible. On-line searches shows the entire line of Maytag (now owned by Whirlpool) Centennial washers are problem plagued especially with shift actuators and drive motor problems. Cost for a service visit plus parts/labor is almost as much as a new washer. Where is the famous Maytag Repair Man when you actually need him for a reasonable price???? Will NOT purchase another Maytag/Whirlpool washer. Should last more than a year and a half.
from New Jersey
Broke after the warranty fan out 14 months it lasted. The main board needs to be replaced at the price of a new machine. So now I have to set a timer to do laundry or it will never stop.
Mechanical design lacks common sense

This washer broke 6 months from the end of the warranty. Loose nut because the factory did not use lock-tight on the threads. This washer drum likes to make severe contact with the inside walls of the unit. Never saw anything like that in my life. Level, balanced load, but load may have shifted.Service was exceptional, incredible, fair charges, returned phone call as well as advice about terrible noise when drum hits inside wall. Very helpful..Had to buy extended warranty..It is a must..Built well, designed poorly.

This machine worked pretty good for the first year. It suddenly started cycling over and over. I looked on the internet and found out this is common. Not the Maytag reliability I paid for.
Solid Machine with new technology
By Bob K
from Washington, N.J. 07882
We like this washer but after 18 months, it started to make a terrible noise. Research on internet revealed a problem with a part of the new technology...Not major just a problem. Called service, they fixed it right away. They even explained what they were fixing and why. Wonderful service..Bought extended warranty...

Love the new design, it feels like our laundry is cleaner than ever before. The machine is attractive and easy to keep clean.
Haven't had any issues. Way easier to use then front loaders.
