quiet and efficient
deep cleans clothes and spins them almost dry. Control settings for all types of wash- innovative drum design.

Great washer, plenty of room since there in no agitator.
Short life span
from La Crossw, WI
This is a easy to use washer, that has a C average cleaning ability. Often the washer would leave dirt or residue behind after washing cloths, had to get into the habit of running several smaller loads compared to two or three larger loads, to insure cloths came clean. This wasn't a major issue, this washing machine was a more efficient replacement, that turned cloths washing into a time consuming process. After approximately 18 months the washer become incredibly loud when spinning a load of cloths, washing machine transmission is starting to fail.At 24 months the washer actuator stop operating. At 25 months the washer pulley stopped working correctly At 26 months tub gasket failed Repairman suggested I purchase a new washing machine, rather than invest in more repairs. I expected a higher quality product from Maytag, a machine that would have opporated a minimal of 5 years, before the first mechanic issue.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Loud and not very gentle on clothes.
from Stow OH
I see why this model has been discontinued. Sounds like a freight train in spin cycle. Repair man says it needs a new TRANSMISSION after less than 2 years! Not the Maytag promise I expected. If I had not purchased a 3 year warranty I would just set it out on the curb! Also do not like the dispensing system for softener-dispensing balls are outdated.
☺ Smart washer for smart people.

Easy Installation, user friendly but with a lot of washing optimization settings to chose from. Don't listen to negative reviews about this type of washer. It is perfect in design and in application. It's a smart washer for smart people. So read the manual, watch a video to learn about this machine type before you judge it or buy a different one - thinking this type is too complex or problematic.
Works as expected

Seems to wash everything as I expect. I do wish I had purchased the one with the glass lid so I could see the washer in action, but I was being cheap.

Not finishing a cycle
from Saint Paul,MN
It just keeps going and going if your not there for the done cycle it well just go back to wash I'm pretty sure you shouldn't have to sit and watch you washer machine more of a headache than what it's worth I guess I'll be sticking to a old school agitator....
Broke In Under Two Years
from Warrenton VA
Bought this washer 18 months ago, and now it doesn't agitate, is leaking water, and makes horrible noises. Manufacturer's warranty after first year is terrible. On-line searches shows the entire line of Maytag (now owned by Whirlpool) Centennial washers are problem plagued especially with shift actuators and drive motor problems. Cost for a service visit plus parts/labor is almost as much as a new washer. Where is the famous Maytag Repair Man when you actually need him for a reasonable price???? Will NOT purchase another Maytag/Whirlpool washer. Should last more than a year and a half.
