Comments about Maytag 36" Gas Cooktop - Black:
I have been using this for about 6 months now. Never owned a gas cook top but am adjusting and love it. Only wish that there were more room for each burner. I must use big pans/skillets ;)
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Great solid cooktop

I bought this cooktop to replace a cooktop that was wobbly and the grates were not flush with each other. This cooktop has very solid and even grates which are heavy and substantial. They wash easily in the dishwasher and the surface of the cooktop is easy to clean as well. There is a power burner with a very large surface area for bigger pots. There is also what could be called a simmer burner too. The cooking area allows for five pans/pots to fit comfortably on there at one time. I enjoy cooking on the cooktop and am very happy with this purchase.

I replaced my cooktop about two months ago and am so glad I did. I love the cast iron grates on this Maytag. The flimsy ones on my old cooktop were always slipping and sliding. I like having 5 sealed burners too.

First one purchased was warped and would not sit flush on the counter. Could have better directions on mounting brackets. Had glass cooktop before and it was very easy to clean. The gas cooktop is hard to clean. You also need to be carful not to scratch the porcelain finish because it scratches easily. Cooktop looks great in the counter and works well.
Super looking with awesome features!

My son bought and installed my Maytag cooktop and it's changed my life. I just love the continuous surface grates. It is lovely to be able to slide a pot from a regular burner to the very useful simmer burner. The high performance burner is such a time saver for boiling pasta water quickly, etc. I love how the burners keep at the precise setting I choose. My Maytag is easy to clean as well.
Great stovetop, modern replacement for archaic 28 yr old sto

Very happy with the stovetop that we purchased, our only problem is the low is not low enough, living at 10k in elevation everything cooks differently. We're on delivered propane and it isn't cheap these days, so the ability to truly 'simmer' something isn't there, it seems as if everything will eventually boil/bubble, I end up having to lay down several layers of foil to spread the heat evenly and hopefully simmer whatever it is that I am cooking.
Not Bad for the Price
I bought the Maytag Cooktop 4 months ago. I love cooking with gas and before the Maytag, used an Amana gas range. I love the 36-in cook space. The grates are very nice and heavy. I have two complaint though. There doesn't seem to be a simmer. Even the smallest burner puts out to much to simmer. My second complaint is that the stainless steal is thin. I have yet to "dent" it, but cooking for a family of 5- it's inevitable. It's easy to clean, looks fabulous in my kitchen and I've received many compliments on the look...but the manufacturer could've went with a heavier gauge of stainless.I don't regret buying.
Have not had a new stove top for 34 years so I thought it was about time.I may not use it as much as before but it sure brighten up my kitchen. My only con is I choose black and I hate when grease gets on it.
