love it!! especially the detergent compartment. I only have to fill it once a month. Also great feature, the delay start option. Put clothes is at night and they are finished when I wake up.

Love my washer
By Lovely L

I bought this washer 2 months ago and couldn't be happier. It's very quiet and doesn't "walk" like my old one. It's simple to use, even my sons (in their 20's) use it without any problems. I have taken advantage of many of the features.

Amazing washing machine. It's my 3rd Maytag purchase with my first two lasting a total of 40 years. This one is superb. Quiet and efficient, it uses very little water. They finally fixed the door lock feature on the last model so that you can add clothes after you start almost immediately. They DO seem a bit obsessed about too much soap in the water... can't see how a little extra soap hurts anything...but oh well. Does an excellent job of cleaning. High capacity, high efficiency, great machine, highly recommend.
Bought for reputation
Have only had a short time but am happy to go back to a dependable Maytag and the top notch people where I bought it. Some features I've not yet used but am happy with the overall performance. It is very quiet and there are lots of options.

Easy on fabrics...hard on dirt

I had bought a Maytag front loading washing machine about 25 years ago and just loved it! So my NEXT PURCHASE just had to also be another MAYTAG FRONT LOADER. Having to use a regular agitation washer while living temporarily in an apartment while our house was being built, the first thing I noticed with the conventional washer was the wear and tear on the clothes. Since there is no agitation with my new Maytag, water is metered onto to clothes while the barrel turns first one way and then the other and cleaned by a simple spray and fall system that does not actually rub the clothes against one another. The water simply passes through the fibers and rinses out the dirt. I am so happy I can wash delicates that normally would require hand washing. My husband is a farmer and even very dirty clothes always come out super clean. I simply throw in the laundry and chose the cycle and the machine does the rest, monitoring necessary water and regulating the soap usage. I use such a small quantity of laundry detergent now whereas before I was using 1/4 cup each load. I rarely fill the dispenser. I wouldn't have another washing machine after using this one.

We bought the MHW8100DW set 2 months ago. The first month both the washer and dryer operated well, until the washer started making a loud and annoying sound while it dispensed soap. We went through the process to have a tech come check it out and he determined it was the soap dispenser pump. When he contacted a tech at whirlpool and let him listen to what sounds like a medium animal during mating season, he said it is normal. So this left the tech that came to fix it with his hands tied. I will attach a video so everyone can hear it. I believe whirlpool knew about this before the product left R&D but decided to not fix it unless enough customers complained about it.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Best Quality Out There
LGs broke down after 7 years - from what I hear that's normal nowadays but that doesn't make me happy.Tried the Electrolux Wave Touch. Great cleaning, but the odour they put in the drum is terrible and the quality is poor. Dryer was large but started to squeak. Bad vibration for 2nd floor despite having a guarantee.Returned them and got the Maytag 8100 pair. Great choice after a lot of reading and checking Consumer Reports. Finally my second floor doesn't feel like it's going to collapse.Solid feel to these. Seems like very good quality. Very quiet and good spin, barely any vibration. Clothes have more water left in them (as mentioned in reports), but I cannot see that I need any more drying time. Clothes come out feeling soft.I was a bit disappointed that the LED is gone in this new model. Now it looks like the Whirlpool is the only line with that. Would love it if you didn't have to guess which cycle and could just say "Jeans", "Towels", etc as opposed to generic titles. Guess I would need to head down the Whirpool line for that, but seems it wasn't rated as high. All in all - happy with these for what is out there on the market.

In December we moved into a new home. Prior to moving in, we purchased a different brand washer/dryer (top load washer). The washer was so noisy we had a serviceman come to check it. We found it was the normal noise this brand made. We had to keep the laundry door closed when washing clothes. The dryer seemed to be okay. We also notice the washer (which was an HE washer) spun all the clothes in one big knot and wrinkled the clothes terribly. It also left white spots on all the dark clothes even with HE detergent. We were not happy at all with this washer. Even though this set was only 6 months old, we got rid of it and purchased the Maytag Maxima front loader washer and matching dryer. These are very quiet and work wonderfully! We are very pleased with the quality and the performance. It took a bad experience to show us that we should have purchased quality from the very beginning.
Great washer overall
from Toledo, Ohio
So, overall I love this washing machine. A lot of great features including the timer that tells you how much time is left until end of cycle, steam, ability to stop and throw in more laundry, water savings, etc.Only cons:I really liked the automatic detergent dispenser feature which was one reason I went with the top model. However, the tray for detergent keeps popping out on its own during cycles. It seems flimsy. And, the insert for fabric softener and bleach pops out inside the tray so these liquids may go into the wash before they should. Maytag may want to rethink the design of this piece. Otherwise, a great washer.
