Comments about Maytag 4.5 Cu. Ft. Top Loading Washer - White:
This washer is the worst! I've owned mine for less than 3 years and it sounds like an airplane in the spin cycle. A repair man told me it's the bearings and shaft which cost about $400 to replace. I'm going to buy a new one for less than $700 and it won't be a Maytag. I'm really disapointed with the quality of Maytag.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Poor quality, service and customer service
By Dissatisfied in Florida

Washer lasted only 2.5 yrs. Washer advertised with 10 year warranty but come to find out it only covers 2 parts after year 1. The motor and wash basket . Has 10 year warranty sticker in front which is one of the reasons I purchased it. Little did I know limited warranty was limited to two parts . Washer making a lot of noise in spin cycle only. Figure it's a bearing but the bearing is only sold as part of the inner tub which cost $400. Call Maytag Customer Service to find out if wash basket covered was same as in her tub but they couldn't tell me. Got more information on blinded from Maytag Customer Service. only way for me to find out if Park was covered by warranty was to call a service tech that would charge me $90 to tell me whether or not it was covered in my warranty. When I called service tech they told me I had to ask that question to Maytag. My previous washer dryers were Maytag. Not sure if I'll be a Maytag / Whirlpool customer anymore.
Worst washer i ever owned
from Rincon Ga.
Washer is only 4 yrs old. It is slinging water under washer all over my floor on spin cycle. I live 50 yds from a railroad track & washer is louder than the train. My last Maytag washer was 20 yrs old so i bought another Maytag. Worst thing i ever did & Maytag has a deaf ear if you call them. Needless to say...i just bought a new washer but it is not a Maytag!!!!!!!

Easy to use and quiet
from Florence MA
This is a great washer. Easy to use with many options, but not too many. It washes well, is quiet, and we've been happily using it for several months.

I have been purchasing Maytags for over 30 years, and I have to say that this is the worst washer that I haveever bought. Even when you spread the clothes proportionately on the bottom of the washer, it constantly goes off balance during the spin cycle. When you stop it to try to balance out the clothes again, It takes forever because all of the clothes are in knots because there is no center cylinder. The only cycle that I can use is the Heavy Duty cycle, because that is the only cycle that fills the washer to a satisfactory level of water. Any other cycle, doesn't fill the washer enough. I have even completed an entire cycle, pulled out the clothes to put into the dryer, and there are dry spots on the clothes after the wash; and no I do not pack the washing machine. I have only had this washer for one year. From what I have heard recently, Maytag knew of the problems and sold this washer anyways, trying to sell the complete stock of them. I am very disappointed and probably won't buy a Maytag ever again. I may call and talk to the CEO to see if they can do anything for me. :(
Does Not Wash Well - Not So High Efficient After All
By Dirty Don
from Upland, CA
We purchased this washer about four years ago. We didn't notice it right away, but It leaves white streaks on dark clothes, as it does not rinse the recommended HE detergent off very well. Maytag claims that this washer is high efficiency, but if it takes more than one run to do the job it is defeating the purpose. Additionally, the large capacity claim is also defeated by the lack of water in the tub. For instance when we place a comforter or large load of clothes in the washer, only about half gets washed / cycled. The rest is too high in the tub to be cleaned. Based on our personal experience and in reading numerous other reviews about this particular washer, we would highly recommend avoiding it. We feel as though we have been duped by the poor design and false advertising about this washer.

Very happy with my washer. Only problem has been sheets. They tend to create an air ball on the bottom and I have to readjust them because it gets out of sink.

Everything works great. No problems. It's been over a year since I bought the washer and I have no complaints. Highly recommended.

Very poor washer

We have had our washer for a year and it always says that it has an unlevel load no mater how you put the clothes in it. On an average day it will take you the whole day to wash a load of towels.
