Load will not stay balanced
from Farmington, NM
Comments about Maytag 4.8 Cu. Ft. Top Loading Washer - Granite Gray:
I purchased the Bravo XL 2 years ago. I wanted appliances that were made in the USA. I picked this unit for what I thought would be he ease of washing large loads like sheets or blankets. What a mistake. The washer will not stay balanced. I spend so much time rearranging the load between cycles.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Don't buy this washer without the extended warranty
from Bedford, TX
DO NOT BUY THIS WASHER!!! And if you do, make sure you get the extended warranty. I've had mine for less than two years and I've already had to have the complete insides changed twice. I've done everything that the instructions have told me and it still broke. I then tried to call and ask for an extended warranty(since it is apparently going to keep breaking) and they told me that I could not purchase one because of the problems that are already on file. This is the last Maytag I'll ever buy.
So far so good.

I've had this washer about a month now. Pretty simple to use. Does its job well.

We purchased this 2 years ago solely as an efficiency saver. Up until the last month we loved it, until we found that we didn't do our research and they have issues with the bearings going out.And when the bearing goes out it sounds like a fighter jet is taking off in your laundry room...with no warranty (and the limited parts only covers the engine and the drum) the cost to fix this beast is right at $700!!! I can say we are less than impressed after over $1000 spent and 2 years in we are out a washer...Sad if this is what you call American Made!!
Never enough water
from Alberta, Canada
We bought this machine about 3 months ago. Even on the deep water setting there is never enough water to cover the smallest load. When the articles are rinsed, there is residue left on the items where they touched the sides of the drum. We are quite unhappy.
Not so good

This is the second washer purchased in 3 yrs. because the tub in the first one completely deteriorated within 15 mos. calling Maytag brought no satisfaction. The only reason for the purchase of the second was to match the existing dryer. No wonder there are new models in the stores

Great washer and dryer
from Alexis Creek BC
Seems to work great both washer and dryer ... had a Maytag set for over 8 years with no issues here's hoping this set is the same :) My only complaint is the height is could be a wee bit smaller as I find myself standing on my tip toes to reach the bottom.
Nice big tub!
from Elloree, SC
After having a Maytag front loader for 10 years, I decided to buy this top loader. I love the nice big stainless tub.I like all the features it offers. p.s I hope I win the matching dryer !!
Pretty Good HE Washer
By Wendy PP
from Cookeville, TN
I really like my new washer but with all HE machines, they don't totally cover the clothing and soak the clothes in water and I have had to get used to the idea that some things may not get cleaned if I don't spend a little time pre-soaking or spraying with a pre-wash. This is not the fault of Maytag, but the price paid for high efficiency and use of limited water. Otherwise, this has been a good machine and easy to use. We have only had it for 1 month so if anything changes, I will edit this review.
