Very expensive investment to only last 2 years
from Winnipeg, MB
Comments about Maytag Maxima 4.3 Cu. Ft. Front Loading Washer - White:
We purchased this washing machine when we first bought our house approx 2 years ago. We've run into a few minor error codes in the past but they were always easy fixes so I didn't think much of it. But then 3 weeks ago during a cycle it completely stopped working. Wouldn't drain at all.. When we thought that we resolved it and stated it again an error code came up that the water level switch needed replacing. Called in a repair guy who changed the switch & drained the pump that was also coming up as an error. He ran a test cycle and everything seemed fine. We tried doing laundry again and it still won't drain! The pump has to be completely replaced. Just seems like a domino effect at this point, We're not dumping any more money into this machine. Very disappointed in investing so much into a machine we thought was from a reputable brand only for it to be a scrap piece of metal after 2 years. It would be more understandable if we ran it multiple times a day but it gets used once a week at most. It's been great while it works but soo not worth the investment for it to only last 2 years before major problems arise.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I have had my washer for a while now. I love it. The power wash and steam boost are great for dirty work clothes, white socks and stains. The delicate and cold cycles are great for finer clothes and synthetics. There is also a cycle for larger bedding items, one for wrinkle control and a sanitary cycle. The washer runs so smoothly and quietly that I have to open the door to the laundry room to hear it at all. The seal around the door is easy to clean. The clothes come out of the washer just damp which cuts down on drying time. I also love that the machine is made in the USA. Over all it is a great machine for the price.

I bought this product over a year ago. I do feel like it lacks a little in the stain cleaning department. Definitely like the extra steam option. Over all it works well and it is easy to use.

Front door leaks
from Pasadena, TX
This is my 3rd and last Maytag. This washer is terrible. The door leaks soap/water from the front door. It started doing this within the warranty period, but I didn't call customer service until just outside of the warranty period. Maytag refused service because warranty was expired. Other issues we have with this is that the soap/softner cups frequently have standing water in them and the operation of the machine is quirky. Sometimes you have to turn the machine completely off before any of the controls buttons work or to unlock the door, but operation isn't consisted. I am very dissatisfied and wish I had never bought this machine.
Not enough water to clean your clothes thoroughly!!
from Buffalo, NY
I own this washer for about one year. I initially wanted a top loader because they take on more water and therefore your clothes get washed (yes they come out clean). The man at the store really sold me on this one because it was the "best"(I don't think so) This machine fills up with about half of a bucket and your clothes will bang around with pretty much no water and come out dirty. I have to wash each load twice and push the button for extra rinses just so the clothes could touch water. ridiculous!!!!Also, if you do not take out the detergent dispenser and rinse it out after a bleach load - your next load might get ruined. Sometimes the bleach does not empty out completely. yeah - my son's sheets were ruined. Thanks Maytag!!

I am quite happy with my Maytag washer...although a normal cycle does seem to take longer compared to my old washer...but that aside, I'm happy. At the time i purchased this washer I did not purchase the matching gas dryer. Can you sent me info on that dryer now so that I can purchase it. Thank you.

Lacks expected features
This washer has no interior light and also lacks a pre-soak feature. These are two absolute requirements that I would expect in any current washer, and I was extremely disappointed to discover after installation that Maytag had omitted these essentials. I cannot forgive the salesperson for failing to mention that Maytag had excluded these assumed requirements.

Whites are Grey...
from Massachusetts, United States
Purchased this machine less than two years ago. Sales team ASSURED Me that my first front loader was a lemon and this one would clean clothes with no odor or major extended run times. Sadly all my whites are now grey, the tub has a bad odor ( again) and when filled , the machine cannot turn itself off from a large load= after 3 hours the clothiers are in a wet heap in the bottom. In our home, any excessively dirty clothes are washed in our forty year old washer in the basement, so there is no reason for this machine to not be clean smelling inside. We leave the door and pullout soap dispenser open always to allow air to circulate, and and we put a vinegar solution cycle through it every 3-4 months. Peroxide or bleach is used in small amounts for light-colored ( going in ) loads. This machine will cost you money and time while you 1) wait for it to cycle through medium to large loads, 2)re-puchase or dry clean white clothing, and 3)beg a repairman to make it a washing clean machine not a grey staining machine.

OMG the repairman just left. He told us that the outer drum of our one year old machine was destroyed and there was no warrantee on that plastic part. The reason is most likely because the entire machine has to be taken apart to fix it and it would be very expensive.
