Disappointed in CPU
Comments about Microsoft Surface Book 13.5" Intel Core i7 2-in-1 Notebook Computer with Windows 10 Pro:
Overall I like the Surface Book. However, I am a little disappointed that when you buy the top of line that the CPU was not a quad core.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I've bought the enourmous 1To device, with exclusive Gpu. This machine is very smooth and light and powerful. I've got only problems with multi screens. I bought to a desk adapter and plug 2 other screens. It works fine but sometimes, if I touch the tablet (only the screen of the surface book) there is bad contacts and dispays sucks. Now, I know it so i don't touch more the screen but it is a pity because it seems contacts between keyboard and screen are not good. All the other feauture works well and it's really a good device !
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Worth the price
By The Other Jim
My Surface Pro 3, which I have had for about 2 years, was showing its age. Though still functional, the SSD was getting full, and it had accumulated quite a bit of "grit in the gears," meaning all the little things that were left over from Windows 8, 8.1, etc. It was time to upgrade. I tried to decide whether to go with Surface Pro 4, or what I really wanted, a Surface Book. The main difference? A keyboard I could live with. I spend most of my time reading and writing, and found the keyboard on the Surface Pro difficult for me. The Book has a real keyboard, with good feel, nice spacing, and vastly fewer "rollover" errors, where I get a "3" when I meant to get "e". The biggest impediment? The price. I wanted to max out the system so I wouldn't have to face this problem for several years. I got the most powerful laptop I could find. After getting everything set up on the new system -- always more work than you expect -- I am more than satisfied. The real test will come later this month, when I take the new laptop on the road. Will I find the extra 500g or so weight too much? I certainly hope not.

What a great laptop/tablet both for work & school. It would be an outstanding machine if it was also designed as a gaming laptop/tablet!

Works great but not without issues
By John Shaw
I have had the Surface Book for a little over a week. I love the way it functions but I have had some issues with losing the touchpad, "Hello" suddenly deciding not to find the camera, and camera not behaving at all. Then Windows 10 decided to lose access to the Start menu. All the correction suggestions provided on the Microsoft site and others were tried but to no avail. Had to reinstall Windows 10 completely and start process of reinstalling software previously installed. Now Office 2016 Pro will not reinstall from the Microsoft on-line HUP site, so I am looking for an external CD drive for use to reinstall Office 2016 from the CD that I was wise enough to purchase. I would recommend product but not without LOUD warnings of issues experienced so far.

The best laptop in the world
Very light, very thin, very powerful. Love Microsoft Hello facial recognition that also works in the dark. The best laptop I've ever owned. I own the 16gb memory, 1tb ssd model. It will stay relevant for the next 10 years.

I love the Microsoft Surface book! Everything works as expected. Microsoft Hello allows login and authentication to our domain, and the wireless display adapter makes conference room meetings a breeze.

Pro: Screen is large and high resolution, making it easy to work on Excel spreadsheets. The Book is also light and the keyboard has good feel. Con: The camera for facial recognition log-on sometimes do not turn on and the magnetic-hold power cord connecter easily disconnects when the Book is moved.
Awesome outside of some severe scaling and resolution issues with certain programs - specifically CorelDraw and AutoCAD. Understood that these are program issues, but wish there was a quick fix in display properties that adjusts attributes for specific programs vs the entire machine.

)What I Needed
I've waited out the tablet market looking for a mature product that could replace my desktop, run my apps, that was fast with large disk capacity that could be used for in the field GIS work. The Microsoft Surface Book, with 1TB, is just must the ticket. I use the Microsoft Surface Book in planning meetings, giving presentations (connecting to wireless TV's is a breeze), and working in the field with GIS and inventory apps (I work for the Forest Service as a planner and ecosystem modeler). The wait was worth it.
