So glad I went for this computer
So glad I went for this computer, does what I want and has lots of other features as well. Very easy to carry and travel with. I just wish it had more USB ports.
I am considering a refund
I am very displeased with my purchase, I had a lot of problems with the sleep function and I almost have to hard reset the device every day because of "something", the screen is too yellowish (low light) and the batter does not last. This should be a product with premium quality, but it is not! the hardware is good, but the product is overpriced. Just after the purchase, the day after... there was the deal for a free Dock by buying the SP4, I talked with Micro$oft representative she told me if I want the Dock "free" I have to buy ANOTHER surface PRO 4 and return the package I have. Buy another? (16GB 512GB i7) US??? seriously? This product is overpriced and does not even have FREE OFFICE. The "Certain Competence" have a CLONE of the SP4 (and actually comes with the keyboard pad), a clone!! and cost 50% less (lot lot cheaper), it is the same but cheaper. That tablet has Liquid Cooling Space Age.!!! Want to make SP4 attractive? * Give the Keyboard Free * Give Office Free (not PLEASE the 360 annual paid version) * Give 10% Discount to all the people (not only students) * Give the XBOX Free (not Just the students) If this machine EVER make me to hard reboot, I will bring it back to the Store and ask my refund.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Ok 'tablet', lousy NIC
By Charles W62
I just bought this and it is an ok tablet. The main issue I have is that the range of the NIC is not that good. I have no problem with my other PC's picking up my Router and accessing the full speed of my ISP provider, the Surface range is limited
First not so good but improved
When I first setup, the screen was stuck on "Surface" and would not advance from that screen. I called tech support and we could not advance beyond this screen. Eventually, we decided nothing could be done and the product had to be returned. Even when I took it out of the box to return it, it was stuck on the same screen. With the new product, the only problem has been, when it hibernates it is a big problem trying to get the Surface 4 to wake. It does eventually after the 30 second reset but I think that should not be the norm.
Went from Pro3 to Pro4, worth the money for my usage.
Happy with the purchase
I replaced my previous 'convertible' laptop with the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 instead of one of it's direct competitors primarily because it was 11.5" long instead of 13" long. I wanted something truly portable and the additional 1.5" makes a significant difference. I was initially concerned about the keyboard being too small. This is no longer a concern. I like the keyboard. It is not too small, the keyboard doesn't 'give' when I am typing, the 'touch' is fine. It, of course, does not have a numerical keypad, but I can buy an attachment for that. It took some time on google to find information on using the Fn key with the arrow keys so I can leave the Fn key 'locked' when I am using Excel. Microsoft does appear to have resolved the 'sleep' issue. I was having problems prior to the last firmware update but I have not had any problems since. I'm getting 6-8 hours per battery charge. I generally use the computer most of the hours of most days. I always have to charge the battery at least once a day and sometimes twice a day- depending on my usage I'm using 1440x900 with DPI scaling of 100% as my resolution. 1680x1050 and 1920x1080 with DPI scaling of 100% were workable but after a full day on the computer the print was a little small to be comfortable. I had to use an alternate display resolution because some of the applications I use do not yet 'scale' and at the default resolution of 2736x1824 with scaling = 200% the text was simply too small to be usable for any extended period of time. I have not encountered any issues with using an adapter to extend my display to a second monitor. At this point I am -very- happy with my hardware selection. And now to Windows 10. In general, I like Windows 10 and I recommend it to friends, family, and associates. But it has annoyances galore. Gratefully, there are often workarounds available but I certainly wish they were not needed. Some do -not- have workarounds and I simply get annoyed with Microsoft every time I encounter them. Examples: . There is no way to control the sensitivity of the two-finger scrolling on the touchpad. How ridiculous is that?! . In order to select a 'custom' color as the desktop background you have to go through 'Control Panel' - you can't do it in 'Settings'. Really, Microsoft, you expect people to see the loss of functionality as an improvement?! . Support for pen input needs serious re-thinking and updating. I rarely want to save my notes in their handwritten form. Far more often I need an easy way to convert my writing to text. I -need- an easier way to enter keyboard shift, ctrl, alt, and win states using the stylus. Has anyone from Microsoft seriously attempted to use a stylus with Excel or Word? . The list goes on and on and on. One can only hope that Microsoft reviews the discussions on the web forums and will make appropriate changes in future releases. They have a LOT of work to do to make people 'happy' with Windows 10! On the other hand, considering the fact that they want everyone to use Windows 10 their should be a LOT of incentive for them to make these changes. Unless, of course , they just want a LOT of people to be constantly annoyed with them (which is never a good business plan).

Meets or exceeds all expectations required for demanding job. Tight integration with applications stack and smooth human interface makes this a great choice
Amazing if I didn't have so many problems!
I have every surface since the RT. Currently on my 3rd SP4 and still having issues and experiencing poor performance and crashing. Main setup running it with the SP4 docking stating and 2 monitors, but extremely unstable.

I hate this Surface Pro 4!!!!! ------10 stars
I bought this Surface Pro 4 at Christmas. It kills me with ads that I do not want. This program tries to take over my actions. It has even changed my login password!!! I paid extra for Microsoft Office Pro not Office 365, yet it is monitoring everything I do. I was OK with Microsoft Products until this one. I will never buy another. I am seriously thinking of wasting this computer. I own an RE company. I have purchased Microsoft Office for at least 37 computers. Never Again. I am leaving the Microsoft family.
