Very impressed with image quality

Comments about Nikon D3300 24.2 MP DSLR Digital Camera:

The image quality is superb. As a longtime 35-mm film camera photographer, I have been used to setting everything manually. I am having fun exploring the options in my D3300, usually with the aperture-priority setting. The 24.2 Mp processor yields impressive images, and that is my main concern. The D3300 might be reasonably inexpensive, but there is nothing cheap about the image quality. The accompanying sample photos included both the uncropped and two cropped images. Shot with Nikon D3300 and 35-mm f/1.8 Nikkor prime lens set at f/5.6. No processing was used other than cropping. Additional information: ISO 200, aperture priority f 5.6, shutter speed 1/320. NEF RAW file. First crop made in Nikon Capture NX-D and saved as jpeg. A second, tighter crop was made from the first jpeg cropped image using Kodak Easyshare software, because I couldn't get the crop as tight as I wanted in NX-D, but with still very usable results. By the way, I could have used my 300-mm Nikkor zoom when shooting, but I was experimenting with the 35-mm Nikkor prime lens. Love Nikon. And love pushing the envelope.

Fantastic HDSLR

Comments about Nikon D3300 24.2 MP DSLR Digital Camera:

I just got this camera, after hours and hours of research. I knew I wanted a Nikon, so I went with the one I thought was best for my money. You can't go wrong with this camera kit, with the 55-200mms included in this particular package. As for simplicity and performance....outstanding. I would recommend this kit to anyone wanting an affordable kit to begin your photographic journeys.

Amazing pictures, not the best for film.

By Puffhead

Comments about Nikon D3300 24.2 MP DSLR Digital Camera:

This camera, is absolutely stellar. Low light performance is great, and the battery life is even better. The only thing I dislike (personally) is that to shoot video, you can ONLY view on the LCD screen, nothing through the viewfinder.

My First DSLR

By Idontknowwhattoputhere

Comments about Nikon D3300 24.2 MP DSLR Digital Camera:

I have had a point and shoot for several years now, my current one being the Canon S100. I decided it would be time for a DSLR, and I chose Nikon because the rest of my family has Nikon lenses. This DSLR is really nice. Its small and light and it fits in a mirrorless camera camerabag I got so I don't have to lug around one of those big bags. The photos are nice, even at the higher ISOs. I've tried some fancy low light images, light star trails and light portraits, and it works nicely. You can even put the ISO on a high number (like 6400) for the long 30 second shutter speeds.

Comments about Nikon D3300 24.2 MP DSLR Digital Camera:

Excellent camera. Its performance exceeds your expectations of an "entry level" DSLR. I invested in new and better lenses than the ones that came in the kit and the results are stunning. Easy to use and learn on and has lots of cool features... I'm very happy with it :)

Perfect camera for all occasions

By geezershutterbug

Comments about Nikon D3300 24.2 MP DSLR Digital Camera:

At 70 years of age I'm not new to photography but raising six children over a long span of time did not leave much cash for perusing photography as a hobby. It was do what you can with what you have as needed. My father had given me an Agfa Speedex camera that very basic but a good camera. The cost of film/processing and printing was a real limiting factor. Since the camera was old and the lens was separating the layers it was replaced by point and shoot film cameras. The pictures made nice memories but not the type of photos that I longed for creating. Now I have entered the DSLR age and what a difference. The photos I take are what I always longed to take. Colors are alive and brilliant. The D3300 is easy to use and with the options available to use, good results are guaranteed. In the M mode I can use the old lessons learned and the digital format makes experimenting and learning fun and affordable. I have used this camera for a week and am so pleased with its performance. There is nothing I would change. I have the 18-55mm and the 55-200mm lens. They are a nice combination. The camera has taken some nice bird photos and fall color photos with amazing results. Overall the D3300 has been the right choice for DSLR both as a starting point and use in the long run. It will provide a good long time of more that adequate service. It is proving to be the totally correct decision.

compact and light

Comments about Nikon D3300 24.2 MP DSLR Digital Camera:

this is my first dslr I only bought it because my phone camera although 12mp didn't have the ability to catch fast motion or close zoom. after a lot of research I found the d3300 it has everything I need as a beginner and features I will be able to use when I feel more confident in using in the future, I didn't want a camera I would have to up-grade just to advance in photography and this is it I love the simplicity of it the guide mode was one reason I bought it but saying that I rarely use it if ever as I feel I have learnt a lot more about the camera by just experimenting with it as you have the ability to reset its features to factory default if you mess it up takes away the worry for me the only down side is the cost of accessories like lenses compared to others I researched the tech side of my purchase but not the cost side of accessories
