One of my favorites!

Comments about Nikon Nikkor 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6 VR Lens:

I've used this lens for a variety of situations and it works beautifully for the most part! It works the best in well lit areas when your subject isn't doing a whole lot of moving. The poorer the light and the more movement happening, the longer it takes to focus, even compared to other lenses. I've noticed that, even in good lighting, it has a tendency to actually focus slightly behind the subject, despite the indicator lighting up in the right spots. That being said, I use it for a lot of sports and other action photography, and I still manage to get some great close-ups after making my own adjustments.

Comments about Nikon Nikkor 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6 VR Lens:

Bought this when I started going to horse shows because I needed something with better zoom.. took it to my second show & was absolutely amazed with the quality of the photos. I'm the type who likes her artsy photos & was quite impressed with how good they looked. If anyone is looking for a zoom lens, I suggest going with this one. Works really well with squirrels & birds in trees too!

Comments about Nikon Nikkor 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6 VR Lens:

I was in need of a lens that would go beyond what my small camera would go. I decided to go for this zoom lens after my 18-55mm lens that came with my D40X completely died. I've had my camera for 6 years and I use it a LOT. Getting this lens reignited my passion for photography. I am not an expert photographer, just like to take good pictures. This lens is awesome. It produces crisp images and complements the camera settings to produce excellent pictures with great colors. I am very happy with this lens. Pros: It is not heavy and it is easy to carry/fit in a bag; great colors; crisp images; zooms to great lengths keeping details. Cons: Closer objects are difficult to photograph, but not impossible (I bought extension tubes to resolve this issue)

Lint inside the main optical lenses

Comments about Nikon Nikkor 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6 VR Lens:

When I first purchased this lens for my Nikon D7100, I never imagined that I would get a defective lens. There was lint inside the internal lenses with no option to clean them. I would probably ignore a small piece if it was at the edge of the lens but when you have (3) spots of lint in the middle of the lens, quality needs to be improved. This is my first time owning a Nikon product and so far, I'm debating the purchase.

Good quality zoom, covers everything

Comments about Nikon Nikkor 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6 VR Lens:

I used this lens extensively on a recent trip to the Galapagos Islands. With the abundant wildlife, the lens was definitely put through its paces. It performed well enough for my purposes, although its focus when searching is much slower than more professional lenses. Capturing birds in flight or quick lizards was somewhat difficult, but not so much that I would not recommend this lens. It is perfect for the beginner or the amateur because of its great range, VR for telephoto and action, and budget-sensitive price. Definitely a great buy!

A must have for any DX format Nikon.

Comments about Nikon Nikkor 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6 VR Lens:

I use this with my D3200 and rarely use another lens for nature photography. It even takes great portraits when zoomed in to create Bokeh. Need to reach out a bit farther than your kit lens? You wont regret this one, its a higher quality than the 55-200mm, plus it reaches much farther.

Nikon 70-300 Zoom

Comments about Nikon Nikkor 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6 VR Lens:

This lens has not preformed well since it's purchase. After two returns, the first issue with focus was resolved. However, recently a new issue has appeared. This problem is once again with the focus. When focusing lens has a stutter in it's focus movement. Don't know about others, but would not purchase this lens again. May have purchased a lemon!!!
