Comments about Quirky + GE Aros 8000 BTU Smart Window Air Conditioner:
This air conditioner is really loud and does not cool well. It also has blue neon light display and is really bright. It makes it hard to sleep!
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Best money ever spent
As the title says this is the best money I've ever spent I did read up on the reviews before I purchased this air-conditioner and most of the reviews had said how loud it was in noisy like A fraittrain" lol that is so on true I can't believe people would say things about this unit I don't know what to expect if you don't want to hear a sound then they might as well purchase a window fan and see if that cools them off because I'm loving every second of it sleeping like a baby I give this machine a 10 out of a 10 just what you expect from a GE product

I like the idea of saving money on my electric bill. The air conditioner was a little esxpensive for me, but I think over time it will pay for itself with energy savings.

Not your Grandpa AC **Elmonts the best!
By Pete Abe

Fast cooling in a moderate size room. Front panel shows room temperature not continuous. Some complain of noise level.I did not find it annoying but was good at blocking outside noise. Very easy to connect to phone.Part of the process is to put phone in front of sensorto send network info to ac. Works on phone with home WiFi and phone network.

I'm a disabled/senior and needs to have my Apt.at a comfortable temperature,I like this AC but is very loud.
had the unit for a week. Low setting is just Ridiculously loud! you expect low setting to be whisper quiet just to maintain the temp. NOPE. medium and high are really loud, but i'm ok with that...i want it to be cool, quick. it seems like it takes longer to cool a room but don't be fooled. the air directs upwards. so when you come into a hot room and put the unit on, you don't get the air blowing directly on you...so it takes a good 15-20 minutes till you feel like that air is really doing making a difference. but the air blowing up actually helps circulate the air in the room quicker. I've had it for a week. and both myself and my fiance had trouble syncing the cell phone app(android os) the first go around, but we have not made a real attempt to trouble shoot. read that Iphones go through much smoother then Droid phones. will give it another go this weekend, invoking tech support if needed. Bottom line, Way to loud on Low Setting.
Great idea - but too Loud to keep.
I've have read a number of reviews online (here/elsewhere) and the consistent complaint is that it is too loud. Also, for some reason they decided to design this with fabric panels to seal the unit in the window. Not a good practical idea. Also, instruction manual was poorly written and incomplete. I would have expected better from GE on quality.Being able to access it remotely from an iPhone is a great idea. But I'm a tech guy and setup was not clear. When synching the unit to your network by iPhone you would assume that it is being done by bluetooth or signal -- not by scanning the flashing screen. So you need have the phone's screen facing the unit's home plate light -- not just 'held near' as the instructions indicate.
