Nice compromise between a professional and consumer range

Comments about Samsung 30" Slide-In Gas Range - Stainless Steel:
Positives: Nice functions and controls. Nice look that's a compromise between a professional range like a Viking and a fully featured consumer range. High BTU burners makes it possible to do things like sear quickly and cook Chinese food more like a restaurant would (although oil spatters everywhere). Negatives: Can't tell for sure since my previous range didn't tell you its actual temperature, but it seems like it's slow to heat up the oven. The "stainless steel" surface (which I think is actually chrome) scratches very easily. I've only had the range a few weeks and it already has some small scratches. In a year, my bet is that it's going to look terrible. The grill plate for the long center burner didn't work so well. Even coating it with oil, it wasn't non-stick and cooking on it made a mess over the surface of the range. That grill plate should have been made with a smoother non-stick surface and had high sides or a well to prevent overflow. The temperature probe is not working properly. Tried it with a one-pound roast beef. It seemed to work, but when the range indicated that it had hit 165 degrees at the core and shut off, it was actually still raw. I then cooked it normally on bake without the probe for another 20 minutes and it was perfect. That's very disappointing as that's one of the reasons I purchased this range. Other notes: The warming drawer can't really be used as a storage drawer because it's quite small in height in order to make the over larger. So if you have a range now in which you store any pans, plan to store them somewhere else.
Service and delivery comments:
Delivery was prompt. When first installed, the range rocked in place. Didn't notice until the installers left. Had them come back to adjust the feet, but they couldn't get the left front foot to come down. We wound up putting a shim under that leg. It seems to be fine now. although I'm worried that the shim will compress over time.

About Me Gourmet Chef
Candidly, I was on the hunt for size first because the space dedicated to the range in my kitchen is really tight. Through the on-line chat (which was an amazing experience in and of itself) the sales person was able to find the exact dimensions I needed. I didn't really want to spend this much, however, after using this range it was absolutely worth every penny. I love this range and will look to Samsung for other products now.Thank you PCR and Samsung
Delivered ahead of schedule by a professional crew. Can not ask for a better experience.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
