Not everyone loves tiny
from Clifton NJ
You have to be clear about what you want. There is a group of us out there that have poor vision, arthritic fingers, fat thumbs and find that anything under 10 inches is exasperating to work with. So already I knew that I wasn't going to buy something that would fit in a pocket. Once you're in 10 inches or above, the next question is do you want something light and small to do work other than the internet - then this would not be your choice. But if you want to have something inexpensive that is lighter and smaller than your laptop to keep on your coffee table to email/social media as you watch TV, or hook into free WiFi at Dunkin Donuts, the train station (at least in Jersey) or play certain games/edit simple docs offline while on the bus - this would be it. Since the compatibility with MS Office is OK, but not seamless re: doc transfer, and since you can't load other software like Skype or Dropbox - you're limited to the Google world. But if you like Gmail and are OK Google's more simplified "apps" - my husband is a iPhone/Pad person and frankly, some of that stuff is just way too overwrought and overthought - so, again, if you're OK with the less glam, less prissy Google world - then this Chromebook is a fine addition for a reasonable price. My only complaint is the typical complaint against Samsung - the quality of the materials feels a tad bit chintzy - like their Tab series - and in my Chromebook the pad is a bit skittish. Oh, and you have to get used to the "two fingers in the middle" press instead of the MS "right click" feature. But if you're buying this, then this is by far not going to be your first piece of computing power and you'll figure out the differences in no time. I was fully up and running with all the changes in the new OS clear to me in about five minutes. For those who love all the apps that select information for you and don't really do much typing for searches, then you may not need the keyboard, then you may not need the Chromebook. The Chromebook is best for those who still don't want their world pre-sorted and actually type words to go exploring on their own.
