Comments about Sharp 10,000 BTU Window/Wall Slide-Out Air Conditioner:

I use this unit in a 20'x20' upsatirs bedroom in NY and it does a great job of cooling it to the set temperature. It's not too loud, but "library quiet".. yeah, if it was being operated in a big library. The fan is very strong, even on the lowest setting you can feel the air moving from about 15' across the room. The left/right air directional fins could have been designed better, they don't do much, but overall Sharp seems to be doing a better job in the A/C field than in years past. I liked the fact this A/C could be installed through a wall, as I was replacing an old unit. However, there is a 1/2" non-removable lip across the bottom-front of the sleeve. To fully recess the unit into the wall properly, a 1/2" deep 2" forward groove will need to be cut out of the mounting surface. The front will protrude out of the wall approximately 5" when correctly installed. The exact dimension of the sleeve is 22 1/2" wide x 15 1/4" high. This doesn't include the additional 1/2" lip previously mentioned. Basically, this is a great unit for the price. The Energy Saver feature works well. The unit starts and stops smoothly. I really don't have any complaints but it would be nice if the low fan speed was a bit lower, and if there was a seperate indicator light to see at-a-glance which fan speed is selected without having to press a button. I hope this review was useful. I wrote it to perhaps help someone avoid some of the confusion I encountered when deciding which A/C to buy. I was very happy to see P.C. Richard had this item cheaper than anywhere else I searched online. I prefer doing business here.

I have this in the 12,000 BTU's and it really cools off my entire studio apartment(650 sq ft) I even have to close the bathroom door when I get in the shower cause its so cold. But its soooo loud that if I wake up for a minute in the middle of the night it keeps me up.

Comments about Sharp 10,000 BTU Window/Wall Slide-Out Air Conditioner:

Does a great job of cooling off our living room, dining room and kitchen. During the day we set it to 76 degrees to keep it cool enough for the dogs without running up the bill. I have no idea how energy efficient it is because electric is included in the rent, but we're very happy with this unit. And it is relatively quiet, compared to other air conditioners.

Comments about Sharp 10,000 BTU Window/Wall Slide-Out Air Conditioner:

I only gave this air conditioner 3 stars is because it does cool the room. However, the energy-saver feature is almost nonexistent. When you use that feature, once the room reaches the desired temperature that you set it to, it's supposed to shut off and only turn back on if the room becomes hotter than the desired temperature. Well, this AC doesn't do that even though it says it does. It shuts off for less than a minute and it runs all of the time. My electric bill has increased and the filter gets dirty very quickly as a result. The unit also isn't as quiet as some other units either. In summary, the unit does cool the room down, but the cool features that are supposed to be there don't work. If I could do it again I wouldn't get this unit.
