I bought this item for my daughter's bedroom and I am completely satisfied. I was looking for a quite product and tried with two other brands but they couldn't compare with this product.

Comments about Sharp 13,000 BTU Windowless Portable Air Conditioner:

I've had this unit for the last two summers. I am going to buy a second unit. I have never had a problem. Cools a larger room at the top of the house. Never had to empty any water no matter how humid the conditions.

        • You only sleep 3 hours

Comments about Sharp 13,000 BTU Windowless Portable Air Conditioner:

This unit looks good, cools well and it is nice and quiet. However, we ran it the first night to test it, and in low humidity in 68 degree weather, with the fan speed on "auto" and only asking for 69 degree air, it shut off after about 3 hours of use because it was full of water! Called customer service at Sharp, and they recommended I try again - we did, and had the same results the second night. The unit weighs about 100lbs when empty, more when full. As the instruction manual says, you have to empty "outside, or, in a room with a drain in the floor." That's because the drain plug is at the base of the unit and you can't even fit a cookie sheet under it - LOTS of water flows out. Don't buy this if you need to sleep more than 3 hours or if you are not capable of getting 120 lbs down stairs, your stoop, or outside somehow. Sharp has no solution to the problem, and after two days of calling and being on the phone over an hour each time, we have no choice but to bring this unit back and look for another cooling solution. We tried to work with Sharp's customer service, but they said that the unit filling with water and shutting off every three hours was "not unusual and did not indicate any problem with the unit" (HUH??? It's advertised as SELF EVAPORATING AND BUCKETLESS!!)
