Awesome Product - Outstanding Support

Set up was simple and work well out of the box. Great room filling sound in an 980 sq. ft. open living space.Ran into a few issues with the controller app set up on home PC (my network issue, not a Sonos product issue). Called Sonos Customer Support and was BEYOND pleased with the outstanding service provided by my customer support representative (Nico). They were polite, helpful, and went above and beyond to ensure I was able to use my Sonos products as desired. Nothing but great things to say about a company that truly seems to have the customers best interst at heart.I will certainly be adding more Sonos products to my home in the near future.

I have a large home full of this stuff….2 playbars, 3 PLAY5's, 2 SUBS, 3 PLAY3's, 4 PLAY's, 2 Connect Amps used in the playbar schemes to drive-in ceiling rear surrounds, 2 connects (one driving about 15 in wall speakers in a whole house system the other drives a set of 5K dollar Bowers and Wilkins towers.All works fabulous in concert. Blows away all my Audiophile buddies……The interface gets better each time its updated. My only gripe is the lack of a shuffle feature once your in you spottily or other playlists……

Value for money!

I use the Play5 at home and it is my first set of WiFi speakers. I had gone into the stores with my mind made up to buy the Bose. after learning about the versatility of Sonos (software / hardware), this speaker ticked all the boxes in the correct places. The set-up is simple and straightforward. please do not believe anyone who says / writes about the set up process being cumbersome. it was out of the box, and working in a matter of <10 mins. Adding radio stations and playing music from your audio / music files is a child's play. Love the fact that when you resume/switch ON the speakers and it starts playing the last radio station, you were last listening to before you switched off. I have configured my speakers with the Sonos bridge and plan expand my speaker network in to other areas of my house. Since the time I bought the set (6 months back) I have experienced no drop in audio signals during playback.My only complaint is that Sonos should make something even bigger than Play5 to add a little more 'oomph' to the sound.However, I would definitely recommend this product to anyone.

Great music player and is easy to set up

I have 2 Play:5 speakers in my house (one on each of 2 levels).I love that it was easy to set up (I had purchased a bridge as that was still required at the time), and found it really easy to connect to my music collection stored on a NAS. I use the iOS app to control it and find it to meet my needs (there was a problem with replacing the current queue but the recent app update seems to have corrected that).Small issue with the iOS app - when you are adding songs to a playlist, it will often take you back to the Sonos home instead of returning you to where you were in browsing music sources. This is an annoyance for me as I have to re-navigate my music library to find where I was as I add songs to be played. It is possible that only some of the options do this (i.e. add to queue vs. play next), but I do not recall the specifics.One thing that I feel is missing from your product line is a portable speaker - one that has an internal battery and ideally one that is weather proof. There are 2 cases that I am interested in having supported by such a product:1. Outdoor speakers in my backyard.2. Being able to take the speaker to a beach, park, etc. and play music from my smart phone. This is a bit of a departure from the standard approach, but could support playing music from a smart phone or tablet.Overall, I am a really big fan of your product line and would like to see you guys continue to grow and succeed.

A worthy investment

Hard to add much that hasn't already been said regarding the capabilities, convenience, sound and aesthetics of the Sonos systems, bottom line is that I'm loving music all over again. Over the years I've amassed and changed almost continuously a raft of audio gear, but have increasingly less time to sit and listen critically to recordings in a dedicated environment. It was becoming a little too much about the gear and a lot less about discovering new music and appreciating my favorites. I opted over the holidays to go "cold turkey" on high-end audio and set up a multi-room arrangement consisting of four Play:5s in the house's main level and a soundbar and sub + Play:1 surrounds in the basement. As most note, set up was relatively simple and I was connected to music in mere minutes, accessing my iTunes library was the only thing that took a little digging and a couple of tries to get right. I was pleased to discover that the Play:5s are much less placement-specific than I imagined they would be. I have two of them on top of tall-ish cabinets and one at kitchen counter height, and the other on an office bookshelf. The sound is really amazing, no it is not my dedicated two channel setup, but it is surprisingly full range and more than room filling for the system's size. Plus they are quite customizable and I can tailor the sound to my tastes. There is some dropoff in sound quality in the Play:3s and Play:1s, but not much, each is perfectly good, I just prefer the slight increase in extension and soundstage of the Play:5, enough so to justify paying the premium. I see many complaints about the cost, and while certainly not cheap, I was able to sell my main 2 channel speakers and more than pay for every piece of Sonos gear that is now filling nearly my entire house with music. It's a good trade-off, I only wish I hadn't waited this long...

Purchased this early this morning and have been putting it through its paces all day today. I am not an audiophile, but I do appreciate quality sound (I am a musician). The Play:5 sounds absolutely amazing for its size and what it is. The simplicity of the setup cannot be overstated: In literally less than 15 minutes I had this bad boy unboxed and playing my favorite Pandora stations. I have read some reviews complaining about the smartphone controller apps, but I found the iPhone app very easy to use and intuitive--I have developed software for a living in the past and while I would change a few things, in general, the app is very user friendly. The setup carefully walks the user through each step in the process, visually explaining what he/she should be seeing and doing on the device.I can't say enough good things about this unit and I definitely will be expanding my Sonos system to cover every area of my home. If you love your music and you love quality sound throughout your home and you love a no-frills, rapid, easy setup...get off the couch and go buy this unit! By the way, I also have a Play:1 that the kids use upstairs and all the same comments apply with the exception that the sound quality is not as 'Big' as that of the Play:5 if that makes sense. Understandable, though, given the smaller size; however, sound quality is still very good.Hope this helps someone.

Overall, it is a good product. I know it is not meant for connection to the TV but it would be nice if there is an optical cable to hook it up to the TV. It does not get very loud when hooked up to the TV and there is a slight lag.

Products are used in a fitness centre.Sound fills the room quite well although lacks serious low end sound. The big issue is with the play app. The app is very laggy and unreliable, have installed the latest updates etc and still poor performance, need to have a unit that can be played, paused, stopped and music changed. Playlist function is awkward and unreliable. Great concept, but needs more research into the app side.Purchased 2 Play 5s, one failed within 3 months, unit was replaced without issue, good customer service.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
