Comments about Sony 3D Blu-ray Disc Player with Super Wi-Fi:
My wife bought the S5100 for me to replace my BDP S590. Watched some Blu ray movies over the weekend on it and here's my review. First of all the design. Very classy looking by Sony and it look's great sitting next to my Sony HX850 LED/3D tv. Hookup was fast and simple. Put in my first movie and the first thing I saw was is how fast the movie loaded which was a big upgrade over my 590. Second was there was no noise coming from the unit while the movie was playing, I could hardly tell if it was running or not! Another major upgrade over the S590. The PQ was simply beautiful and the audio was fantastic. Sony has hit a home run with the S5100 and with it paired to my HX850 it makes an unbeatable combination. I can only wonder what 3D will look like when I try that out but knowing Sony it will look beautiful as well. In closing this is one of Sony's best Blu ray players since the S570 and I am proud that my wife got it for me. If you have yet to get a Blu ray player get the S5100 because you wont regret it....I know I don't.

Little package, BIG PERFORMANCE. Love the small size, it fit anywhere! 3-D Blueray, Internet (wireless or wired) Great value.

Prior to my new Blu-ray , I was having trouble streaming from netflix. Now there are no interruptions or pauses . I have enjoyed hours of interrupted pleasure. Good work sony.

If you want to have a DVD ...
If you want to have a DVD player for only 3-4 months , then you can get this one. After 3-4 months all apps will stop working ( netflix, hulu+ ,youtube, etc.) . Sony tech support was no help at all. Sony knows about this problem and they are not able to fix it. Probably my last SONY product.

In less than 2 months this player won't connect to the internet. Makes a funny noise while running.

I have had the player for five months. I have yet to get it to play without pausing, skipping or update firmware, both DVD's and online video. I like the options and functions available, but if the unit does not work, how good is it?

This machine takes minutes to set up and has great menus and GUI interface.Apps galore but lacks the ability to stream from other devices on network or Wi-Fi. I was very disappointed thinking that this unit was a 5. I give it a 4 for lack of Sony Intel.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Pretty good DVD player

Overall this is a very nice DVD player but I cannot believe Sony left off the audio connect. Now I cannot connect my headphones which I need to not bother others in the home. My other DVD player has it so why was it left off this player. I am going to have to return it just because of that one feature not being there. Shame on you Sony.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
We have loved this unit so far. I wish we had a 3D tv to go with it.

Sony Entertainment Network disappears from menu
I love the Discover Sony Entertainment Network, but these great options just keep disappearing from the network menu. I returned it the first time, and now with the second blue ray these great options disappeared again, The help online has steps that do not work to fix the problem.
