Beautiful Picture, alas short lived

Comments about Sony 65" Class 3D Ready LED 1080p HDTV:
This is not my first Sony, but I haven't purchased one since they made CRT. While it worked, the set was gorgeous. Best picture I have ever seen. Apps are fast, sound from the built in speakers is more than adequate. The remote is intuitive, and the mini back up remote is nice. Its a sexy looking tv, thats for sure. We purchased this set for our new house last November. 11 months and a day later, the blue line of death has appeared on the right side of the screen. Absolutely unacceptable for a tv less than a year old to fail in this manner. It speaks to cost cutting measures in the components. I had intended to move this tv into the bedroom & place a larger Sony in the living room. Not anymore.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Extremely pleased. the colors are bright and blacks are crisp. Although it's not 4K, I feel it is a great TV. Set up was very easy. I purchased a wifi extender for the house and have had absolutely no delays with the TV's apps. Instead of using the TV speakers I purchased a Sony sound bar and the combination of the 850's picture and the sound bar is awesome. The only complaint would be some shadowing or dragging of players during the World Cup. I have also noticed it while watching baseball and the NBA playoffs. This is minimal and only last a few seconds and is not a constant problem.

Well I started off excited but now more disappointed. The tv looks great on bright scenes ,but doesn't deliver well on dark or shadowy background scenes. The blacks are grayish or have a greenish tint to them. I've since had the tv calibrated and while it looks fantastic on Blu-ray movies, it lacks the ability to generate deep blacks without some color distortion. Bummer, I should've heeded the warnings about led TV's being weak in deep black levels and now i'm stuck with this thing because my window to return it I missed by a few days. If you want deep rich color consistently stick to the high end plasma TV's.
So far so good - read the fine print

Research samsung. 7100 and Sony 850. Went with sony as put the tv in brighter upstairs room and wanted a darker picture that sony demonstrated. The setup was easy and internet connection is working well. Have not used 3d as was not a primary focus. Or need. I had an issue with pricing as product was reduced between ordering and when I saw the reduction. Sony would not give me a price rebate even when I was interested in buying added product. Missed by 3 days. Hope this is not an indication of their overall product support.

Perfect picture and great sound quality.....
Best TV I've owned
from Phoenix, AZ
I bought this TV in February so I've had it for a few months. And the reason we decided to get a new tv is because the cable provider was finally updating its fiber optics in my area. I got the TV a few days before my cable provider switched me to the new Fiber optics. The color was amazing but the picture looked stretched and blurry. Once the new fiber optics were installed in my area, the picture was so crisp, you could see the peach fuss hair on the faces of the actors! The sweat on the floor from the NBA players during a game, and the dew on the grass during a golf tournament. I could not be happier with the picture quality!
Best Picture I've seen
Great purchase. I was considering this and a Samsung 65 inch and but after comparing the two side by side and picture quality, I chose the Sony. Great picture out of the box, even better with minor picture tweaks.
