MP3 version, navigation is hopeless
from Menlo Park, CA 94025, USA
Comments about Sony CD Boom Box - Black:
I like the overall Sony quality but the display is minimal, no alpha numeric, and finding an MP3 file is almost hopeless, just a number 0 to 999 and a folder number 0 to 999. You can't get to folder two until you have passed through folder 1 so if folder 1 has 100 songs you have to press "next" 100 times to get to folder two. It has no treble or bass control which I need when I'm listening to speech at a distance and the boominess makes it hard to understand.

Sony CD Boombox with cassette and FM/AM Radio
from Brooklyn, NY, USA
The Sony CD Boombox has a small profile, typical of a table radio if it were not so deep. The CD player is on top of the box, where CDs easily snap into place, and easily extracted. The box has a sturdy handle on top for easy carrying. All controls are on the front top-portion of the box, shared with the digital display. The radio is turned on by pressing the Power button, there is digital tuning, and presets are allowed. Just what I needed to play CDs and occasional radio use. There is a headphone output, and audio input via 1/8" plug, on the back of the box. An excellent versatile box.
Excellent service - Product fair
from New York
PC Richards has excellent service, and free shipping clinched my final decision to purchase the SONY portable player from them. However, the quality of the product was disappointing. The player has a very short battery life, and I wasunable to play the CD's to the end even when I was using electricity.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

A Delightful Surprise
My bride and I like to listen to recorded books while doing menial tasks or traveling by car. Our faithful boombox of 26 years finally died of natural causes and was buried with honors. After a lot of shopping around, we came across the Sony CFD-S50 and soon decided it was the winner. It plays CDs flawlessly, has an AM/FM receiver with good sensitivity and records either on it's cassette recorder/player, one feature tough to find nowadays. But the real winning feature was the sound quality which worked well for my 71 year old ears, unlike many others we tried. Sony hasn't failed us yet. I doubt we'll worry about it now.
Nice little stereo unit
from Gulf County, FL, USA
This unit replaced an older Sony stereo that we had. This one is more user friendly. Nice tone for a smallish unit.
