Comments about Sony Digital Flash Voice Recorder:
I HAVE LOST THE FIRST PART OF 2 DIFFERENT INTERVIEWS AFTER THE RECORDER SHUT OFF. I QUICKLY TURNED IT BACK ON AND COULD NOT FIND THE FIRST PART OF THE RECORDING. I USE THIS FOR CONTRACT WORK AND AM FRUSTRATED THAT I CANT RELY ON THIS RECORDER. MAYBE I AM USING IT WRONGLY. THE RECORDER IS A LITTLE OVER A MONTH OLD.

This is a great little recorder, the microphones pick up voices very clearly and it records music with outstanding fidelity. There seems to be some confusion about the specs for this model, however. The one I have has no abilitly to manually set record levels, and there is no mention of such ability in the manual or 'help guide'. Sony must have upgraded/changed the specs, because the current ads for this same model say it has the option of manual record levels, which is one reason I chose this model. I am disappointed that my UX533 doesn't have this capability. On the other hand, I got it for a very low price. Maybe the older ones w/o this feature are going for less.

Good Recording, Wish It Had More Features
from San Diego, CA
I use this recorder for lectures in school. It has really good recording capability. When I play it back I can hear the professor clearly speaking. I don't always have time to remember to switch my folders on the recorder however, and it has no option to transfer files to and from different folders. It that was an option I would rate it 5 stars.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

High Tech...Low Price

Excellent documentation for the numerous capabilities of this little recorder; this may inhibit its' usage for those lacking reading skills. As it records in state of the art MP3 formats, simply connect the headphone jack out to a computer microphone or sound card auxiliary input & instantly upload your recording to your choice of software. This baby rocks! Only improvement I could wish for is maybe down the road it could be produced in a thinner model?

When I purchased this recorder I assumed that all recorders have an option to upload to the computer, this one doesn't. You would be able to seperately purchase a cable if you wish to to this, there are forums online about the process. On a positive note, there are multiple features that are easy to use such as dividing recordings, multiple folders, time and date settings, and a hold button so that you don't accidentally record over previous recordings by accident. If you are looking for a product to upload your recordings, look around a bit more, but if you want this for record and play this product is perfect.
I JUST BOUGHT THIS RECORDER AT STAPLES. BATTERIES WERE INCLUDED, SO I GOT TO USE IT RIGHT AWAY. IT HAS MANY FEATURES THAT I MAY NOT USE, BUT IT IS NICE TO KNOW THEY ARE INCLUDED. I WILL BE LOOKING INTO GETTING THE BATTERY CHARGER, BECAUSE I HAVE WALKIE TALKIES THAT USE THE SAME TYPE OF "AAA" HIMH BATTERIES. I LIKE THE 5 FOLDER FEATURE, SO I CAN SEPERATE MY DIFFERENT USES I HAVE IN MIND. THE MENU & INSTRUCTIONS ARE NOT HARD TO FOLLOW, & THEY WERE ALL IN ENGLISH. THE LONG BATTERY LIFE IS REALLY A PLUS. MANY FEATURES & A GREAT PRICE, WHAT MORE CAN YOU ASK FOR.
