Comments about Whirlpool 24.51 Cu. Ft. French Door Refrigerator - Black Ice:
A review, eh? Not a "testimonial"? A piece of "propaganda"?Perhaps Whirlpool expects customers to come on here at their invite, and to just gush & swoon over what a great purchase they made.A review - whether positive, negative, or somewhere in-between - is just that: A Review. I'd be surprised if my review gets posted or stays on their site at all. Time will tell...we'll see. When you make a "big ticket purchase", such as a house...a car...or a refrigerator/ freezer, there's the initial honeymoon period, where you're enamored with your new purchase. But then you start to notice things you didn't notice initially...On the left-hand door is the blue-lit display panel. Well...not really lit all the time. It lights up with icons like Ice, Temp, Measured Fill, etc. But if you don't press any of the buttons for two minutes, it goes into "Sleep Mode" and everything goes dark. Dull & boring. I mean, it has this really "cool" blue light display panel, but you only get to see it for two minutes; what's the point? And oh: one of those buttons on the display? Temp? Turns out, it's not telling you the current temperature of the refrigerator or freezer; it's just telling you what the company default is set at for fridge & freezer (38 and 0 degrees, respectively). I found that out by reading the Owner's Manual. I want to know what the current temp is on the inside of my fridge/ freezer in-case I need to adjust by a degree or two, up or down. That Temp button is useless; it's basically a decoration. Now I realize that this is a subjective opinion on my part, and that everything's relative, but, my take is: This unit is LOUD. This is when it's just sitting there, doors closed, doing its thing, keeping the food cool & cold. Perhaps this is a design flaw, in that it was not insulated properly to muffle the sound of the compressor/ fan.And the water dispenser? Sounds like someone turned on a mini fire hose.Crushed ice? Too long to dispense.Mid drawer too smal
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Great fridge !
from Punta Gorda FL
Good fridge that has some really nice features. The pull out drawer is very handy for quick access to produce and deli items. Ice capacity seemed smaller than I was use to but ice is made so quickly that it is not an issue. Having the ability to monitor all functions at the front control panel is very handy. Even the ice maker can be turned off and on via this control panel. Lastly I like the lighting inside and at the ice / water station and the ability to manage them at the control panel.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
center drawer is wonderful addition and use that most
great product - the only problem is you have to make sure the doors close fully and at times the fan is loud
Great for the price!!
I've had this fridge for about a month and I love it! The extra drawer is great!
Nothing Like I have Ever Had Before, Fantastic!
from Carlinville, IL
I bought the Whirlpool Refrigerator about a month ago, and its fantastic, The Refrigerator Drawer is so handy for about anything you would want to put in it, I can say mine is full, which leaves the other refrigerator for all your big tall items. The freezer has two baskets which holds all everything that I would need. All I can say, I can say is that I am Pretty Proud of my Whirlpool French Door with External Refrigerator Draw. You Will Love it Also!

Great Functionality and Space

After a month of ownership, I am very happy this refrigerator. The refrigerator drawer is great for storing snack and drinks to which you want easy access and the French doors make the entire unit easy to get in and out of as you usually only need to open half to get what you want. The storage conditions for the drawer can be adjusted from just inside the French doors for meat to vegetables. The refrigerator portion is VERY spacious. The freezer is only slightly bigger than your standard "apartment" fridge with the freezer in the top, but I think that it is easier to organize (I put meat on one side, fruits and veggies on the other, and little items in the basket). The ice maker works very well and crushes ice immediately so you don't get a bunch of uncrushed cubes before you get crushed ones like in older fridges. I love the Measured Fill water option as I now use this for all my water needs, even filling the dog bowl. The only problem I have found is that the ice bin is very difficult to remove. I am in good shape and it takes me a while to get the right strength and angle to push the button to get it out. I have given up more than once. Overall this is a great refrigerator and I would recommend it over some of the more expensive models out there.
Good fridge, we are happy with its function and appearance. Only downer, finger prints are always all over it :( Hard to keep clean.
