Comments about Whirlpool 24" Built-In Dishwasher - Black on Black:
Positive notes: Super quietstainless steel tub a plus buttons hidden on topNegative notes: The filtration system must be cleaned regularly or you will end up with a god awful smell, never had a DW smell that badly.Dishes must be pre rinsed and scrubbed well prior to placing them in the dishwasher. The wash cycles take forever from the minimum 1.5 hours to the max 7 hours.Does not dry completely so you have to leave the door ajar overnight to keep from mildew growth.Hate the resume button, it doesn't seem to work all of the time. It should know that you interrupted a cycle and automatically resume.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Would never recommend
from Cincinnati Ohio
Had this machine for less than 3 years. Used minimally since it is in our bar area. Each time we use it it leaks. Has leaked from day one. Fixed the subdispener and replaced the inner door which was warped. Still leaking. They refuse to stand behind this product now since its out of warranty. They tell us we need to buy a new one another $500. Poor customer service and not standing behind their product would never buy whirlpool again.

I bought this 3 years ago, and it's been just okay since. It cleans the dishes (as long as you hand wash the stuck-on food off first), but it doesn't dry them well. We use a drying aid, but the dishes still come out wet. I wish there was a "DRY ONLY" cycle so that I could shake off the excess water and send them back in to re-dry, but there isn't. Our old dishwasher had that, at least. Also, now our detergent dispenser cup doesn't pop open during the wash, so we have to replace it. I like that it's stainless steel and that the buttons are hidden from plain sight. But next time, I'll do a little bit more research on dishwasher brands and check out the reviews before I purchase. Apparently, this detergent dispenser cup issue is common.
Cleaner than I get them

Love, love, love the new dishwasher. Our old one had been out of commission for awhile. The dishes are cleaner than when washed by hand!

Functional but easily stained
I bought this in June of 2014. Having had almost 2 years of experience with it, I can positively say that I've had zero mechanical problems. The only complaint I do have is limited to how easily the "Stainless Steel" stains: Fingerprints and water stains are the main culprits that result in stains. Be prepared to clean the surface often depending on how heavily you use your dishwasher.

We bought all new Whirlpool appliances when we moved in our house at the end of June 2014. I expected the dishwasher to last longer than 20 months! For the second time in a month, the unit completely quit working! No display lights or anything!

Worked okay for a while. Silverware compartment is to small and doesn't clean well. Heating element went out in a year and a half. Whirlpool won't do anything to help after a year.

I've had this dishwasher for over a year now. It works ok. It's not good at rinsing food off plates, so I have to pre-rinse all the dishes first. There are rust stains on the face of the dishwasher, I'm not sure why. Looking back I wish I bought a different dishwasher.
Don't trust ratings on here! It has 2.5 star rating

Whirlpool ratings must be false, go to a 3rd party & you'll see the terrible ratings. Ours looks pretty, that's the best thing about it. It doesn't clean or dry our dishes. I do a load overnight after practically hand washing everything first, then about 12 hours later every single dish is still wet. Top rack, bottom & all silverware. I HATE this dishwasher. My old Maytag dishwasher from 9 years ago was the best, no comparison.
Much Cleaner Dishes :)

I am amazed that my glass baking dishes come out so clean! I don't have to re-wash them a 2nd time. With my old dishwasher there would still be baked on particles, but not anymore with my Whirlpool Gold series :) I'm not crazy about the silverware holder, but I guess that's the least of problems since everything comes out so clean. If you are looking for a dishwasher, check out the Whirlpool products.
