Great for about a year, then failed

Comments about Whirlpool 24" Built-In Dishwasher - Monochromatic Stainless Steel:
Don't waste your time or money on this dishwasher. It worked great for about 1 year, and then suddenly failed, just outside of warranty and left me with several gallons of water in the pan. Dont expect any help from Whirlpool when things go wrong. The manuals are worthless and customer service/support is unhelpful. All they want to do is send a repairman. I'm not going to pay $250 for a visit, plus parts to fix a $350 dishwasher. Because of the water left in the tub after this failure, I had damaged flooring and a huge mess. Dont waste your time with Whirlpool.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Cleans well. Very quiet!!! I think the top rack has too many variation options. Some glassware sits in sloppy.

Good design perfect for a big family. Help me to safe money.

Bought this machine a year ago and it is the best dishwasher I've ever owned. Usually use the sensor cycle and dishes are always nice and clean. I thought the longer cycles with new machines might be a drawback, but this machine is the quietest one I've ever had. The silverware rack has individual slots, which spreads them out, and allows them to get totally clean. Good design by Whirlpool.

I thought I had bought something good after reading all the good reviews. Wouldn't you know it, 1 month after my warranty (purchased July 2014) it has decided to stop cleaning my dishes. I've done all the recommended tips from Whirlpool. Now they want to charge me for a serviceperson so come out. I am beyond annoyed. Horrible product!!
Poor Rack Design
By Mike the Dishwasher
Washes great however rack design leaves something to be desired. Unless you have smaller plates it is difficult to take full advantage of the full capacity of this washer. Larger plates don't fit well and they overlap (lay against) other plates in the rack. Plates do not fit well across the rack.Even after reconfiguring the racks with the adjustable features, you can't get the racks completely full. Bowls are also a problem for the same reason. Small bowls OK but larger bowls don't fit well in the top rack along with glassware as they stop the upper sprayer from turning. If you lower the upper rack to accommodate then you have no room on the lower rack for larger plates.Would recommend this washer only if your place settings are smaller in size.
This has been a great dishwasher so far! It's nice and quite -easy to use and just the right amount of cleaning choices...not too many, not too few. Love the 1 hour wash with the Eco dry - it does a great job!
reviewing it again after service visit

Whirlpool was very quick to respond to my complaints about the dishwasher in a review. The technician was pleasant and seemed knowledgeable. However, even after I followed her recommendations about detergent, the dishwasher fails to get dishes and silverware clean on any cycle. The problem is design and engineering, not manufacturing. I am beyond annoyed. I have to inspect each item that has been "washed" and find that at least--very minimum--- 10%-15% need to be soaked, scraped, or otherwise rewashed by hand. A royal pain. And certainly no gain in energy efficiency over my previous model. Not at all. I cannot understand all these 5 * reviews. Maybe people wash tiny loads of a half dozen dishes and a few spoons. There's no energy efficiency in that. The Whirlpool service people were very responsive, but that doesn't help my dirty forks. Whatever were they thinking?

I bought this Sep 1, 2014. Since that time I have had to call a repairman 3 times. I followed his advice each time and the dishwasher continues to build up horrible black putrid smelling gunk in the filters and all around the inside. As of this writing (8/19/2015) I will have scheduled a 4th visit. Severely disappointed with this product performance. Not as advertised.

Good for 1 year
from Plainfield, IL
I bought this dishwasher 1 year and 2 months ago and now it will not drain the water out. Checked and cleaned the already clean filter basket, took off the drain hose and verified the impeller turns without obstruction, drain hose is clear, but still no draining.
