Comments about Whirlpool 25.6 Cu. Ft. Side-by-Side Refrigerator - Black:
We needed to replace an older Whirlpool that we had for 10 tears. This one was closest in size and design. We really like the ice maker on the door. It leaves a lot more shelf space. It is a little slow and noisy when it first starts making ice. Be patient it takes a while, but once it is full it goes much easier. The fridge is much deeper and lower to the ground so you get more storage. The only things we don't like are the light on the top shelf which is right at eye level and just barely lets a gallon of milk squeak by. Also the filters are on top shelf so you loose a little space. It does have good depth though. Also because of the deeper shelves and drawers most of the door shelves are quite small. The layout of the shelve takes a little getting used to. Without these small issues it would be a 5 star.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Poor quality and horrible customer service
from Redondo Beach
NEVER PURCHASE WHIRLPOOL PRODUCTS!!! Our brand new one stopped dispensing water and was leaking at the bottom. Turns out, the water line was too close to the very hot condenser line causing the water tube to melt. Extremely poor design. We paid for this. Then the ice dispenser started turning on and off all by itself. It would turn on every 6 minutes and stay on for 1.5 minutes. Whirlpool sent a horrible service company. It took them a month to get a part and then when the technician (if you can call him that) returned, that was not the problem. He yanked the control panel out and left all kinds of smudges. And for 2 months, we had to suffer the noise of the ice dispenser coming on every 6 minutes. What a piece of junk. We are buying a real refrigerator (Samsung or LG) and never looking back at a Whirlpool or Maytag product. No wonder we are losing jobs to other countries. With quality like this, we deserve to lose the jobs.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

We love our refrigerator over all. It looks nice and has worked well in the month that we have had it now. My only complaint is there is not enough room for larger/taller items. I know that some of the shelves are ajustable, but that doesn't seem to help since they are limited in how they ajust. Our milk barely fits on the top shelf because the light inside is right in the middle front and fairly bulky. I hit it every time I get or put up my milk.

Wider shelves and handy ice dispenser

Great storage areas in fridge and freezer. Deeper racks on doors. Easy temperature controls and lockout on ice and water dispensers insure its child proof. Too bad it's not Energy Star rated
from Frisco, TX
Refrigerator has plenty of shelves and storage places. Ice maker works great and I like the smaller size of cubes. Large water bottles fit in water and ice dispenser without any problems.

Lighting of shelves is good. Ice maker not so good
By David at the beach
from Amelia Island FL
I like that the unit has upper and lower level lighting at the rear of the shelves so I can see what is at the back of the shelves. Shelf levels are fixed and I wish would have been designed to be adjustable as my old Frigerdare had. The ice maker bin is small. The fresh cubes make a loud crash when they drop into the bin until the bin is full. Ice cubes used at dinner time or later are made later in the evening and the crash wakes me up. The ice maker shut off switch is reached by removing the bin which I find inconvenient.
