Adequate, certainly not perfect
from SF Bay Area
Comments about Whirlpool 27" Electric Wall Oven/Microwave Combo - Black:
We bought this combo oven for a major kitchen remodel. We have had this in use for about four weeks. It's certainly nice looking. But, there are some definite negatives. Buttons are very hard to push. Instead of the light touch necessary on all our other appliances, we need to press long and firm to make a selection. Am very surprised at how hard we need to press. It takes getting used to, but even then, it's more than we would prefer, or expect. Also, the microwave is under powered. Something that took our Sharp counter top unit 30 seconds to heat or melt, now takes twice as long. Wattage turns out to be only 900 watts. A significant drop from our last two microwaves which had 1100 and 1200 watts respectively. Not sure why an expensive combo unit such as this one would have such a low power rating. We clearly should have done more research before purchasing. Another negative is the noisy fan. Much louder than our old Kenmore oven. Plus, since the wall the oven backs up to has the living room on the other side, we can hear a low pitched rumble in the living room whenever the fan is running for any reason. We never exprerienced that with the original oven that came with the house, or the one we replaced it with prior to this remodel. Bottom line, if we had known about these issues, we would have purchased another combo unit - there are several comparable ones out there that may have been a better choice. Another issue - the left edge of the chrome trim on the lower door had a very sharp edge to it left over from manufacturing. It was not filed smooth as it should have been. One of the installers cut two of his fingers on this sharp edge. We offered to contact Whirlpool for some kind of compensation for his injury, but he refused, saying he had been through such a situation in the past and gave up after being stonewalled for months by the manufacturer. Not saying that Whirlpool would act the same, but he didn't have much faith in the pursuit of the issue. He has since filed the sharp edge down to prevent any more serious injuries from this lack of quality control.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Sleek looking and works great.

I replaced my 12 year old Whirlpool combo with your new product. I was very pleased with the original and like my new one. It is sleek looking and very efficient...however: the microwave and oven are much more complicated to operate. It takes twice (or more) as many steps to do what my old one did.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Good combination, which works as advertised. Convenient height for men and women. Touch screen words a little small for old eyes, but usable.

My only compliant so far has been with the installation flange. Really needs a trim piece to hide the mounting flange and screws.
very happy with this -had one similar-but have improved some features-
Only one flaw.

Great appliance, but the oven fan is a bit loud.

Jury still out

Micro works great but lower oven has burned everything I've tried even though I'm following recipes exactly regarding temp and timing - and these are recipes I've made for 30+ years. I've tried reducing baking time, raising the racks and lowering temp and still having problems. This shouldn't be this hard. Calling Whirlpool to see if it's a thermostat problem - if not, I'm demanding a replacement.
Noisey Appliance and does not bake well

I wish I could return this appliance. THe microwave fan runs all the time that the microwave is in use and does not stop until you go and turn it off. There are no controls. There is no quick start button for 60 or 30 seconds. THe oven also runs the fan the ENTIRE time that is its on making it so loud in the kitchen and dinning areas. It is absurd to do so. I want to bake in peace. Speaking of baking, the oven doe not heat evenly - my bake goods burn on the bottom on one side of the oven and burn on the top on the other side. It ruins meals.

Extremely noisy. This is a terrible product.
Very Pleased with this Oven

I purchased and had this unit installed about 6 months ago. It was replacing an old Kenmore unit that was 20 years old and no longer heated properly above 325 degrees. I read all the reviews and did a lot of research before choosing this model. I am very happy with my selection. The oven is huge compared with what I had previously. I have baked sides for Thanksgiving and cookies for Christmas in it now. It heats up much faster than my JennAir range that is in my kitchen island. The microwave functions are great, I have used the reheat and the special cooking options. I even made scrambled eggs today and they were perfect. The fan does run on the microwave after it is done until you open the door to take your food out. I find it a nice reminder that I have something in there. The fan also runs on the oven after you have turned it off for about 10-15 minutes to cool the unit down. I don't find this an issue at all. I would rather not have a hot oven for hours on end. Several reviews stated the fan running as a complaint. My combo unit is surrounded by cherry wood cabinets and while I hear the fan running, it is more of a background noise to me and not a nuisance at all. I would highly recommend this unit to anyone looking for a replacement combo unit.
