Great for a family

We've had this now for over a year and I'm still in love with it. The temperature control drawer is amazing. We primarily use it for meat and it keeps it fresh and good for up to a week without having to freeze fresh ground beef, chicken, pork, etc. That's a huge deal when you're working 50 hours a week and still have to be home in time to cook for your family of 7. It's a game-changer!!

I bought this refridgerator three months ago to replace my other refridgerator. In this three months, i have had to throw out over $500 in food, and i have had the repairman out twice (scheduled for a 3rd). I have already gotten a new 3 way valve, a new control board, a new compressor, and new tubing. Note three freezer works, but once again, my refridgerator is not cooling properly.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Very Poor Product

Bought this refrigerator 3 years ago and it has a major problem each of the last 3 years. It is currently not working for the past 4weeks now. I have an extended warranty however whirlpool farms out the service to a company called Appliance Repair Specialist out of Bakersfield Ca. ( 2 stars on yelp) what an amazing displeasure it has been doing business with these morons. They call and schedule an appointment and then call on the day of and cancel due to parts back order (3 times so far). About the same displeasure as dealing with Whirlpool who's had the parts on backorder for over a month telling me they can not do anything for me I need to deal with the Service company morons. Can you imagine not having any parts available for the lousy products they build. You would think that with products going out every year you own them there would be a whole boat load of parts around. Whirlpool does not care about quality of it's products or the quality of service it's customers receive. They also do not care about the quality of service that their contractors perform.

We purchased this refrigerator 3 years ago. We have had to have it serviced 15+ times. At least 3 ice makers replaced. Ice maker has leaked so much the door hinges are rusting. This has been a horrible product. Yes, it is noisy and you will need ice cube trays to make your own ice when this one is being repaired. unhappy with Whirlpool and the local retailer who just keep trying to fix it.

Worst refrigerator I ever owned. Way too loud. I can hear hear it running two rooms away with my cpap machine running.Less than three years old and has already had sealed system repair, ice forms inside, icemaker ices up, freezer door grinds as you open it and door shelves fall out. The last shelf to fall had a glass jelly jar that chipped my tile This piece of junk is soon to be replaced.
I will never buy Whirlpool again. Ever.

Our 3 year old fridge is a nightmare. It all started when my husband and I decided to build our first custom home. We wanted beautiful, more top-of-the-line appliances (we couldn't afford Viking at the time, but we thought we settled for second best), and at the time we had researched Whirlpool and GE the most. In the end, we decided on this model Whirlpool Gold, paying roughly $2500.This fridge is a little noisier than most, but this does not really bother me. Even as I sit here typing this in my living room I can hear the faint whir of a struggling motor. For 2 years, the only real complaint I had was the CHEAPY plastic drawers (one of which would always come off the track and sound like it was breaking in order to get it back into place). The other complaint was the odd placement of the tiny center drawer. I keep butter and cream cheese in it, but it's odd that in order to get to it you have to open both doors to get at it. Just a harmless poor design. This brings us to the nightmare of year 3. It begins with small leak dripping from the area of the filter. The leak then became a monsoon, and we unplugged the water line in frustration. Next, our freezer was not freezing. It was the temperature of the fridge, which was not the appropriate cool. We finally gave in and called an appliance repairman at this point. He said in many complicated words that our evaporator is bad. Not only is this a KNOWN problem of this fridge listed, but Whirlpool actually covers the cost of the part and partial labor of the issue. That being said, it is still a HUGE job, which raked in a whopping $600. On a 3 year old fridge. That was the Gold "top-of-the-line" quality. This didn't even cover the leak problem. That was another hefty fix. On a 3 year old fridge. Oddly, our repairman suggested we not even make the repairs (meaning he doesn't get paid), but to spend the money on a new fridge. He informed us that this fridge is known to need constant repairs. So we are getting a Viking.

I bought the 36 inch French Door Refrigerator about a month ago. It has a lot more space than my older refrigerator which was a side by side refrigerator-freezer. I was concerned at first with the loudness of the motor which I guess is due to the size and larger area to be cooled. Being a tall person, I was not thrilled about having to bend down to reach items in the freezer but it is okay. I especially like the section for whole pizzas. One recommendation for future models and they may already have noticed this. The drawer for cheese and other items - you have to open both doors to open this drawer. Two separate drawers may be better alternative.

I bought this refrigerator do to the fact we needed more capacity. I absolutely love it.
