I Don't like the cheap parts

Comments about Whirlpool 30" Gas Cooktop - Stainless Steel:
Three problems 1. The little black rubber contact points on the grates burn-up/melt 2. The knobs are plastic and melt. I need replacement knobs, one broke, one melted within the first month I had the stove. 3. Anything that is spilled must be wiped up immediately ( I mean stop cooking and get it up NOW) or it never comes off without scratching up the cooktop surface. I used 3 stainless steel cleaner products and none of them worked. Easy-Off , Crown Custom blends, and Kitchen Craft. Too much money for the product! I need stainless steel knobs that don't melt! I use LP gas and it was difficult to adjust the flames .How can I get replacement knobs and little rubber tips that go in the bottom of the grates (contact points)
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

The feet on these grates fall off almost immediately and have scratched my cook top beyond repair.
Cooks Good but Bad Design
from Elk Grove, CA
This was an upgrade for a new home we purchased. At the bottom of grates, there are rubber feet so the grating does not scratch the stainless inset. After 3 months of use the rubber feet started melting and the stainless inset is now scratched. Whirlpool states there is no fix, the worker whom came out to the house looked at the cook top and gave us more rubber feet but the same thing happened. After 10 months of owning the house, Whirlpool states that it is past the one year warranty and there is nothing that they are obligated to do. I gave this product overall a poor rating (one star) due to it's design flaw and the fact that Whirlpool states there is no fix.

Our initial purchase was a year ago. We used the cooktop once or twice a week at the very most. Within a couple of months of use, the composite material that forms a buffer between the burner gratings and the stainless steel cooktop surface melted. The heat transferred from the gratings to the surface resulted in a severe discoloration of the stainless steel.Because the (1) damage did not affect the operation of the cooktop (referred to as "an aesthetic problem" by Whirlpool) and (2) the product failure did not occur within the 30-day warranty period from the date of purchase, replacing the cooktop not covered by the warranty. No "if's and or but's." "Too bad, so sad to be you" was the attitude at Whirlpool. So, we were stuck with a deeply discolored stainless steel surface in a brand new kitchen or purchasing a replacement at our cost.We sucked purchased a new cooktop . . . and have been assured the composite material on the new cooktop will not fail.We are now outside the 30-day period warranty period once again. With limited use, so far so good. We'll see.
Whirlpool Gold 36-inch gas cooktop -- fabulous
from Flagstaff, AZ
I was nervous to buy this signt unseen, but the deal was too good to pass up. I am thrilled with the longer top burner and the controls at the front, which make for ease of use. It looks great and is a much higher-grade/professional cooktop than I had expected.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Poor Cooktop Grill Design
from Kingston, MA
I bought this two years ago and while I have enjoyed cooking on the range, the design of the Grills that mount above the burners is poor. I have had them replaced twice and the problem keeps recurring. They 3 grill pieces have small rubber caps where they touch the stainless steel surface to prevent scratching. These fall out during the first cleaning. There is no way to keep from scratching the surface of the range once they fall out. I called with the issue and was sent and entire new set whose feet then fell out within a week.

Whirlpool Warranty Worthless
from Pell City, AL
My cooktop is less than 1 year old. I clean it with Dawn and Windex. The print next to the knobs showing "Off Low High" etc. is coming off. Whirlpool claims this is "cosmetic" and not covered by their warranty. Buyer beware of Whirlpool and their "warranty".

Easy and effective to use it.

I have had my new cooktop for about one month now and am loving it. It is gas and the igniters work great and it is very pretty to look at too!

I would have preferred to have both large burners in the rear, or a large burner and the medium burner up front.
