Comments about Whirlpool 4.2 Cu. Ft. Front Loading Washer - White:
We replaced our beloved Whirlpool washer one after a major breakdown 10 years and a month after we bought it. This new model washes well and has more capacity but there are some unfortunate design flaws I wish I had known before hand as I would have purchased another model or brand. The one I hate the most is the tones it makes when you use controls. There is no way to silence these tones.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Have had my new washer for two months now and I love it! I was happy with my older washer so I wasn't expecting this one to clean any better, but it really does! Extremely quiet and energy efficient.

I am generally happy with the machine, the wash delay is confusing to me.

I bought this last year. I was letting my 14 year old granddaughter do laundry and the door locked and could not get it opened. Shut off breaker switch and that did not help open it. Then I put it back on and let the door lock single stay on and the machine was reacting and in about three minutes it went back to a normal working sequence. I think she got frustrated and was tapping controls too much.I also have my daughters' washer/dryer in my storage shed until she can get it to her new home. It is almost the same washer/dryer I have and I like them.
My first front loader. Cleans well and spins cloths so dry, I didn't need to buy a dryer. Just hang them on a rack and in the morning even heavy stuff is dry.

We have had the washer for two months. With the number of loads my wife washes, it is very efficient and quiet. The clothes are spun to almost dry making drying time even less for the damp clothes. It is great!
Very different than agitator washers!

It is quiet and washes efficiently. I like pouring soap etc in the pullout drawer. I don't like not being able to determine levels for washing. They choose most of it for you. I have had loads that did not wring dry but there is a drain and spin choice. The worst thing with this is that it never empties the drawer so it always has water in it. That leads to mildew and mold. After using it for 4 months the clothes started to smell when I took them out. That is a problem! I leave the drawer and the door open all the time now which looks dumb. You need to fix this for this washer to work well.
This washer is wonderful, to date, 6 weeks after purchase, the only cycle we use is 'quick wash'. It's 26 minutes of washing and it gets everything very clean using a minimal amount of water. It's easy to use, quiet and energy efficient. My water bill has been cut almost in half since we started using this machine and we do A LOT of laundry.I would recommend the base to add extra height, because even thought I'm only 5'1", it can get a little awkward getting the last of the clothes out because it spins so well and the clothes stick to the washing drum.
I bought this recently and have been very pleased with it!
