    BAD PURCHASE

    By Kathhy

Comments about Whirlpool 4.3 Cu. Ft. Front Loading Washer - Diamond Steel:

I owned a Maytag washer and dryer before they were owned by Whirlpool for 23 years with no problems. Purchased a front loader Duet to replace. Three years latter the spin cycle sounds liking it is taking off for a moon landing and it is eating our clothes. Will be replacing soon and NOT with a WHIRLPOOL PRODUCT. So terribly disappointed.

Comments about Whirlpool 4.3 Cu. Ft. Front Loading Washer - Diamond Steel:

I have had nothing go wrong. You can make your own custom cycles, works great. Weighs the load no adding detergent by hand. It does it all. Couldn't be happier.

Do not order this machine. It has too many circuit boards and displays that break repeatedly. My machine has had every board replaced and still breaks frequently

Comments about Whirlpool 4.3 Cu. Ft. Front Loading Washer - Diamond Steel:

First things first, I really, really like this washer. With that out of the way, let me tell you a little about why I like it, and can recommend it. Before I talk about the advanced features, let me mention that I am an IT person by trade, and love technology. With that being said, If a product does not perform its core function well, all of the "bells and whistles" do not matter. Thankfully, this washer does both. It performs its core function (washing) extremely well, and also has plenty of technology if you take the time to set it up. 1. Setup I think whirlpool could make the setup of this washer easier for non technical people. The washer did not even come with the appropriate manual for how to put the washer on your wifi network, which is needed if you want to use the "smart" features, or have it text you, etc. It supporst wifi protected setup, but most people do not use that. In order to get it online without wifi setup, you have to access the washers network page. Thats not too difficult, but for some reason whirlpool does not give you the instructions for how to do this in the box... you need to go to the smart appliance website, create an account, and then hunt around for installation instructions. Most people will give up before getting it online, unless they are technically inclined or have a techie friend / spouse / child. The online setup (as I mentioned) is a 2 part affair, with putting the washer on your wifi, then creating an account on the smart appliance website, then finally adding the washer to the account. On the web portal, you can input 2 phone numbers for the washer to contact (to let you know things like detergent level, when its done washing, when it wants to be cleaned, etc), and also setup an email address if you prefer to get email over txt messages. If you have more than 2 people you would like to get notified, you are kind of out of luck. They should let you notify more than 2 people, as these notices are kind of cool. 2. Usage The washer is very intuitive to use, and has a nice display. The settings are pretty self explanatory (jeans, heavy duty, normal, etc), and there is also a nice built in help feature that tells you what each option does. Additionally, there is a "specialty cycle" section for things like blankets, comforters etc. Each of the presets (both the normal ones and special ones) can be adjusted. If it suggests warm water, and high spin for your blanket but you want to use cool (not cold) water, you can easily change it. If you have gone through the effort of getting the washer online, and setting up your online account (and telling it who your utility company is), the washer will recommend delay washing when the rates are higher. It will automatically start at the time the rates go down. A nice feature for saving a little money if you do not have to have your clothes done right then. It also has a fan fresh setting, which will tumble the clothes when they get done, so they do not sit and get stale. Very nice for if you are washing and running errands at the same time. I really like the automated soap dispenser as well. You tell it the concentration of your liquid HE (high efficiency) detergent, and whether your water is hard, and it automatically measures out soap for the size of the load. No more guesswork, or using too much soap. Using too much soap is one of the reasons front loaders can start to grow mold, so this is really nice. Its also nice if you have people who wash and just throw the maximum soap in there "because more soap = more clean, right?" The spin cycles of the washer extract so much water that your dryer will dry your clothes in half the time you are probably used to. The washer uses almost no water (if you watch it while its washing, the clothes basically do not sit in water at all... they are soaking wet, but not sitting in a pool of water. basically ideal for conservation and cleaning). I am in california and had to order this washer from a vendor in chicago, because it was not sold here. I think whirlpool should release this washer nationwide, as it does an excellent job of getting clothes clean, is very quiet, and has a pretty intuitive interface. The only negative is the awkward setup process to get the washer on your network. Its expensive compared to simple washers, and I can not speak to its longevity as I have owned it for 3 months or so, but would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to get a top of the line washer (its great even without the app features), but would highly recommend it for anyone looking for top washer performance along with some pretty nifty convenience features / notifications.
