Really like this washer

Comments about Whirlpool 4.3 Cu. Ft. Front Loading Washer - White:
Our 13 year old Maytag Neptune washer & dryer got zapped by a power surge and luckily, my wife made me get renter's insurance shortly after we moved in and, to my delight, it covered the replacement value of comparable appliances. I really like this washer; it's intuitively easy to use and I like the steam function a lot, as well as the extra fast spin speed (the clothes come out almost dry). Even though the spin speed is crazy fast, the washer doesn't vibrate at all. I don't know if that's because of the direct drive motor or what, but it really amazes me. There are more than enough cycles with presets for me, including a sanitize cycle, and it's very easy to customize them for specific needs. For example, I like to wash my sheets with hot water and the normal cycle defaults to warm which is easy to change. Also it's very easy to turn on the steam function for extra dirty loads and, in addition to cold, hot and warm, there's a cool wash temp which I use when mixing loads of clothes containing items which are supposed to be washed cold with those that are supposed to be washed warm. There are a lot of examples like this. The electronic controls are great and I really like that when you turn it off, the power stays off, unlike my Maytag which turned on as soon as you opened the door. The only thing that's weird is that you can't go by the cycle time that displays when you start it. For some reason, it will stop counting down for extended periods before restarting, so the actual time is longer. That's really minor however; and other than that, it's a great washer and I can't find anything not to like about it.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Have had this Duet Steam machine for several months now and so far we have been very pleased. Cleans great and for the most part quietly, but high spin can be noisy. Capacity is awesome and accommodates our 3 teenager household for both volume and frequency of use. Quality also seems excellent and only time will tell that, but we expect to have this washer a very long time. So far this has been a very smart purchase.

I bought the washer and dryer set less than 3 months ago and already had to have the repair man come look at the washer as it stopped working! I need to have the main board replaced. How does a brand new product need to have a major part replaced so quickly??? I purchased these appliances based on the "high quality" Whirpool is supposed to have. Disappointed with the dryer also as it takes longer to dry the clothes than what the timer says. I will not recommend Whirpool products to anyone!

A good investment is a good idea.
I had been without a washer for about 3 years, using a local laundry facility every other week. I recently purchased a front load washer and have enjoyed being able to leisurely take care of the job of laundry and not have to wash mixed loads in order to save money. I have always enjoyed doing laundry, but having this efficient, hard working appliance in my home has made it even more enjoyable. It works like a dream and has been so worth the money. I hope we can grow old together.
I bought the washer and dryer set less than 3 months ago and I already had to have the repair guy out cause the washer stopped working! Come to find out, the main board needs to be replaced in the washer! How can a product that is only 3 months old already need a major part replaced. Tried calling Whirlpool but got no where with them. I guess they don't stand by their products! I'm also not happy with the dryer as it takes a lot longer than the timer says to dry the clothes. Definitely DO NOT BUY!

Performance issues 13 months after purchase
I bought this washer, plus a Whirlpool Duet dryer and a Whirlpool Gold refrigerator in November 2014. I was pleased with the washer's performance for the first year, but now, one month after the warranty expired, I'm having issues with the washer not filling appropriately and not getting clothes clean. Additionally, last week the inverter board on the refrigerator went bad and had to be replaced--obviously, I'd expect major components to last more than 13 months. Whirlpool was the only brand I looked at when purchasing these appliances, due to strong reviews and the Whirlpool reputation for quality. Suffice it to say I'll be looking for other options in the future.

We haven't had much luck with washers. Our Samsung very expensive front loader blew a bearing and smoked billowed out. So we thought- lets go back to the old school top load one with an agitator. Lordy! That was the loudest machine EVER!After researching- we bought his one almost two months ago. Love it! It's quiet, quick and cleans the clothes like you wouldn't believe!

Nice washer. Only complaints are the clunking noise it makes when turning the water on/off during it's cycles, and the water that gets deposited and sits on the rubber gasket that surrounds the door window. Have to always dry that off to avoid mildew smell.
