odor, loud, definitely the worst washer I've purchased
from Green Bay, WI
The machine is LOUD. However there are times when it is so loud, it can literally be heard throughout my entire house. Never have I had a machine that is that bad even when it wasn't working properly. There is also a 'machine shop' type odor that we get from time to time. We never wash things that have any type of liquid soaked on them and have been using the same detergent for years...so not sure where the odor is coming from other than from the machine.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Great features, Good looks

Although I have only had the washer/dryer a few weeks, I love it's ease of operation. I thought my previous washer/dryer (also a Whirlpool) was good, but this one I really love. I just used the steam function to freshen up some blouses - I'm in love!!!

I bought this a little over a month ago. Really didn't want a front load as I'd had previous problems with them in our other home. So far it's good. Wish there was an option on all wash cycles to choose water temp., options for drum light. It still smells fresh which is a major items for front loading washers.

About Me Heavy Duty User
I had to replace my old Whirlpool Duet Washing machine after having it for 14 years. So far I love the new one. My only con is that you can not make the time of a cycle go down. With my older one I was able to change the setting. I did find this one does have a longer time on the wash loads. It does clean very well , and spins out fine. We are a big family so I can do a lot of big towels and the machine spins out all the water. so far I don't have any problems with this machine and I have had it for a year already . The cycle signal is loud and I love that since it is down in my basement and I can hear it when it is done. You can turn that off if you don't want to hear it.

Great Look and features
from Sacramento, Ca
This washer is replacing a 17 yearold Maytag Neptune. I looked at many reviews of LG, Sanyo, Maytag, and decided to go with this Whirlpool Duet. Looks, reviews, features, and price helped make my decision. Great color with blue light display. Noise level is decent. Good choices for what you are washing, with the option to pick your own timing and water temperature. Nice chime notification rather than an annoying buzzer. Spin cycle does very well getting the water out of towels, bedding, and clothing. The washer is lower than my Maytag was, which I think is the industries way to get people to spend $200+ for the pedastal/drawer. Since it is a front loader, I wipe down the glass and inside rubber after the last load and leave the door open for awhile to prevent mildew ( a downfall with front loaders).
Faster than I think
Quiet, quick and VERY good at spinning the water out.I think the dryer has the easy job!
