Comments about Whirlpool 4.8 Cu. Ft. Top Loading Washer - Chrome Shadow:
I got the washer a month ago, and I am learning its many features. The programmable features are a challenge to getting clothes clean, but once you find the correct combination, the results equals or exceeds my previous washer. I originally purchased the corresponding dryer, but it would not fit through my door. This, I am told, is a problem with 80% of the households in Northern VA. I had to go for a dryer with a smaller footprint and a smaller capacity. That was a disappointment.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

My clothes have never been so clean! Love the capacity and everything about this washer. No more having to haul comforters to the Laundromat.
I bought it 3 weeks ago, very happy !
This is a large washing machine that has reduced the number of loads I have to do each week. The machine is quiet and does a great job.

This new Cabrio top load washer replaced our 11 year old Whirlpool (which still works) and I love it! After 2 weeks, we are still learning about all the features. It really cleans our clothes! A real energy saver too. thanks Whirlpool!

The size of this washer is nice but you can't use it the way you think. If you fill it, nothing comes clean, so the large capacity is pointless. Now, when you put a regular load in, clothes comes clean if you add a couple of gallons of water on top of the clothes so it will weight them down and make the washer think the items are heavier( thus pouring more water into the cycle). So, needless to say, I have to add water to every load and then push presoak and sometimes deep level for the clothing to come clean. It took quite a few months of experimenting to figure out how to get my laundry clean and smelling good. I am still undecided whether or not I should call Whirlpool and complain.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

As far as I can tell my clothes are getting cleaned. I've had an old type of agitator all my life and still getting adjusted to the fact how this cleans clothes, etc. I assume all is well. Seems that to get the best wash we use the deep water setting. That seems to defeat the purpose of having an H-E unit.
