I purchased this machine 5 years ago (or close to it Model # WTW7800XL0). The lid has cracked on the side near the right hinge. I have been shopping for someone to repair it. All of the three service people I have talked to say this is a very common problem with this machine. The lid has to be replaced and will cost me approx. $325 for parts and service. For the high cost of this machine, I'm certainly a dissatisfied customer right now.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Worst washer we have ever owned
By Disliking Whirlpool
Does not clean clothes well. Washer sometimes has awful smell. Bought it in 2012 and now the control module is bad.
Best Washer in my life!

This is a serious upgrade for us from our previous Cabrio and then Duet front loader before that. It's big enough to wash a King Size Comforter without stuffing it in the drum! The Deep Water & Steam feature is a huge plus for our family!
So far so good!

If had this for 2 months, and so far I like it very well. Little noisy- odd noises but nothing too bad. Thanks!
interesting water concept
I love all the room it has. Being used to old water-filled to the top washers it is hard to get used to seeing clothes pop above the low water line. One was did not seem to get my clothes really clean but I may have put it on the wrong setting. It was one of my first washes and I haven't had anything like that happen since. I love the idea of saving water and electricity! Being a single mother of four kids every penny saved and getting as much laundry done at once as possible are big in my book! I am liking it but do wish it had a "spin and drain only" option. It may but I just might not have figured it out yet.

I washed a king size mattress cover and the machine had no problems and the mattress cover was almost dry.
Blast into the future

We replaced a 17-year old washer and dryer that my husband breathed life into every couple of years by repairing small problems. The old units were really basic, and the Cabrio is really sophisticated. Slow-close lid, highly efficient water use, super quiet, and sensors for everything. I forgot to put detergent in, and it knew. My husband turned off the water, and it knew. (My old one would have continued on.) The only negative I can think of is that it's really deep so it's a little hard to unload.
