My clothes dry faster hanging on a line!

Comments about Whirlpool 7.4 Cu. Ft. Electric Heat Pump Dryer - Chrome Shadow:
We bought this dryer 9 months ago after a dryer fire. We have tried to be patient and learn new laundry habits but we are completely over this dryer. As I type this, my dryer has been running for 3 -1/2 hours on the same load. Average drying time is probably about 4 hours. Towels take more like 6-8. It is noisy and makes our laundry room very hot. I really regret buying this machine.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

This is the worst machine and the biggest waste of money (and a lot of it) that I have ever spent! Please spare yourself the absolute nightmare that I have experienced with this machine - DO NOT BUY A WHIRLPOOL VENTLESS DRYER! The machine did not work the first time we used it and the lint door was broken. The first repairman told me that I needed to purchase a pedestal so the hose didn't bunch and said that the pedestal would correct the error codes and he supposedly ordered a new vent door. After spending another $250 on a pedestal that did not come with the proper screws, the dryer continued to have error messages and did not function. Another repairman came to try to fix it and indicated that the dryer needed a new part and said he did not have the part but would expedite the repair. That still has not happened! I received a nonfunctioning dryer and demanded a new replacement. I paid for a brand new dryer. I did not pay for a refurbished dryer which is essentially what Whirlpool indicates I am entitled to. Charge full price for a new dryer, deliver a broken dryer, and then claim that the customer is not entitled to a new replacement dryer, but rather a repaired dryer. In other words, a refurbished dryer. A warranty should be protective if a new and functioning machine breaks during the warranty period, not used to allow a broken machine to be sold and then fixed after the consumer reports it as broken. This fiasco has lasted 3.5 months so far and I still do not have a functioning dryer. Did I mention - DO NOT BUY!

I purchased this dryer 9/1/16 & had to wait 28 days for it to arrive. I was like a kid at Christmas waiting for the day to come & finally it was here. After just one (1) use the dryer broke! You can imagine my surprise and deep disappointment. Whirlpool did send a repairman out in good time however, I had to wait another 15 days for the replacement parts to arrive, Once it was repaired it worked for about 4-5 more uses and broke again. In total 3x's the repairman has made repairs-only to have it break again. I am now waiting for another repairman for repair #4. Keeping in mind I paid well over a $1000.00 for this dryer and have only had it in my home for about 40 days-only to spend more time not being able to use it VS using it. I will say that the few times I was able to use the Whirlpool Ventless Dryer I did like the results it produced. This is my first time ever purchasing a Whirlpool product.

Love the concept

After a druling delivery and set up process, I find that I really love my ventless dryer. It is quiet and efficient. Yes it takes longer to dry clothes but it senses the wetness and that eliminates the guesswork. The reason I gave it 4 stars is the flimsiness of the cleaning vents. Both vents have mesh that should be more sturdily attached to the plastic framework. Already I have loosened some mesh from the frame even though I read reviews about it. Also instructions suggest cleaning the rear vent which I can do but can't see that most people could. So whirlpool engineers, get working and correct these problems before your competitors do it!!
I find the vent less feature very good no more dryer tubes

Fast fully featured dryer

I don't normally feel compelled to write reviews but this dryer has surpassed my expectations.I was rather unhappy to find that the new house we bought had no dryer vent (the inspector should have mentioned it!) and we never noticed because who looks behind a washer and dryer! The previous owners were running a long hose out into the garage and out the garage door. Buying this dryer was cheaper than cutting through walls to put in a vent. What I wasn't expecting is for this to do a faster and better job than my < 3 yr old top-end Samsung. I assumed it would take much longer to dry, not faster. I really appreciate the ability to choose the balance between eco and fast and also having the drum well lit it great so you don't miss that tiny sock in the back :). Also the primary lint filter is a much better design than any of the prior 4 dryers I have owned. Most importantly I suppose - it hasnt shrunk anything yet!If I have 1 complaint is that the cover to the secondary filter is flimsy plastic that takes some effort to close properly - seems like an afterthought - but that would be my only design change. The actual secondary filter is great, just the cover is poor (I might just remove it and leave it off).

We were really looking forward to our high efficiency dryer. After waiting 5 weeks (they told us 4 weeks, and it ended up being a week late) it finally arrived, it was installed, and ... it didn't work! The repair person spent 2 hours troubleshooting and ended up *guessing* that the problem was the motor and solenoid. We're now waiting for parts (which could take another week!). We've been really happy with our two previous sets of Duets. This has been tremendously disappointing.
