Unhappy, long-time Whirlpool customer
By Suckered by technology
Comments about Whirlpool 4.6 Cu. Ft. Top Loading Washer - White:
I bought the Cabrio Platinum 4 years ago (with an extended warranty). The warranty expired last year & now we have the F-51 error. The machine does not spin after washing. Previously, I owned a Whirlpool top-load which I purchased brand new in 1996. The machine -never- needed to be serviced until it finally died---after 16 YEARS! Then, I replaced it with the Cabrio. I am so disappointed in the lack of quality. Now, we are filling landfills with these new high-tech appliances that don't last. My service guy told me to buy a Speed Queen (the old school kind that doesn't have any bells & whistles, no computers, just like the one I purchased in 1996. The thing will last ages. He doesn't get calls on those). I think it's good advice....
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I have had my washer for 3 years now. So far it has been trouble free and does a good job.

piece of garbage

BOUGHT LESS THAN 3 YEARS AGO AND IT IS FRIED. SPENT $400 ON PARTS ALONE SO FAR AND THEY STILL CAN'T FIX BECAUSE SOMETHING ELSE WAS AFFECTED WHEN THE COMPUTER BLEW. WAS NOT DUE TO A STORM OR POWER SURGE EITHER. WAS WASHING AND HEARD A LOUD POP AND WHOLE COMPUTER OF MACHINE BLEW. ALSO ONLY 2 PEOPLE THAT USE IT. SHOULD BE MORE STURDY. THE LAST ONE WAS MORE THAN 25 YEARS OLD. WON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE.

Fool me once, shame on you
from Columbus, Georgia
My 4-year old Whirlpool Cabrio, which was an expensive purchase, is going into the junk pile (along with a lot of other Cabrio's with the same issue) due to the bearings going bad. I have taken good care of this machine, used only HE detergents, followed the manufacturers's instruction on appropriate usage and for what? I guess it's doing me a favor since it has never been very good at cleaning as most loads. I have had to run most loads as heavily soiled with an extra rinse (so much for energy savings). Not happy and I WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER one. Since manufacturer's know that they make inferior products (just look at their lack of warranty and how they will stall, stall, stall when it comes time to repair) I will either buy the cheapest model since I have to replace them very often, or I will go to a manufacturer that backs up their products (more money, of course). I will be looking into a Speed Queen - there must be a reason why they are utilized in laundromats. Go figure. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.
Horriable! A piece of junk
I bought this machine 3 years ago, paid extra platnium, and thought I was getting a better machine. The bearings are shot and now I'm looking at a $500 repair. Not what I was expecting from a 3 year old Whirlpool

My clothes are still dirty

Bought this machine about 3 years ago. This machine does not use enough water to get clothes even close to clean and there is no option to even use more water. Very disappointed with this machine. So sorry we purchased it.

Worst Machine I have ever owned
By Annie C

Have owned this for over 2 years. Since day 1 it becomes unbalanced anytime I fill it more than halfway. I called several times in the beginning and was told to add less items and make sure they didn't go anywhere near the center of the machine. I did this. So now I can only wash half loads or it gets unbalanced. When I wash blankets and I mean only 1 at a time and not large ones, It gets unbalanced on the spin and sometimes takes up to 5 hours to complete the wash as I have to constantly go and take the blanket pout and remove it from the center only to have it go off balance less than a minute later. I even have rinsed out some loads of wash by hand in frustration. I wish I never got rid of my GE Profile and repaired it. At this point in time I would take a basic machine over this one any day of the week. And as I'm writing this the machine is going off balance. Garbage. And they never made good on it. Shame on Whirlpool

I am really not happy with this washer. It doesn't have the center agitator. Everything gets twisted up. I have to stand and untwist everything, especially if it's pant legs or long sleeves. I cannot adjust the water level or the rinse tempurature. My husband is in drywall and requires a lot of water to rinse out the drywall mud. Rinse is always cold. You cannot choose. I live in a cold climate and our ground water is ICE cold. I have always washed my plastic shower curtains and reused them many times. There is not enough water to cover it and doesn't get it all clean. My shower curtain was in pieces. Imagine what it is doing to your clothes. Then it rinses in ICE cold water that makes the plastic brittle and cracks. It was a mess in my washer after attempting it. Too much auto decisions and leaves you without options for certain situations. I can put a lot of clothes in it, that is for sure. But they won't come out clean with the water saving feature. YUCK!
