Lots of Bells and Whistles
By Dawn E.
from Greensboro, NC
Energy efficiency has ruined appliances. Nothing works the way it used to. I replaced a 15 yr. old front loading Kenmore washer made by Whirlpool with this washer. This one does not get clothes as clean as the older model. It's probably because clothes no longer soak in a full, or even half full, tub of water. Energy efficient washers spray the clothes until they are wet and then tumble the wet clothing around (perhaps hoping the dirt will fall off by itself), and clothes do not get as clean as they did in older models. This isn't specific to Whirlpool, this is ALL of the newer brands. This model is also MUCH noisier than my previous machine, which I'm not happy about since my laundry room is beside the dining room. The spin cycle is vicious! When it's finished, the clothes are plastered all the way around the back of the machine, and I pretty much have to climb in the machine to peel them off the back. You have to MANUALLY spin the drum to get to everything that is stuck around it, and I've missed a couple of items that are grey because they blend in with the drum and are totally flattened out. If I select a less intense spin cycle the clothes aren't dry enough, and they are still stuck to the back of the drum ... just not quite as flattened out. I researched them all, and decided on Whirlpool because I think it is still the best over everything that is out there since nothing is made the way it used to be. Another reason to select Whirlpool is you can easily find a repair service to work on your machine if it breaks after the warranty runs out. With Samsung and LG models you have to wait for a certified repairman to come out, and that can sometimes take 2 to 3 weeks. I would still purchase this model again even though there are things I'm unhappy with because none of the other brands available will do any better, and I can find a repairman without having to wait 2 or 3 weeks if I need one. This one is very easy to use, and you can easily adjust the settings to meet your needs. I hope this one last 15 years too!

This machine is excellent - it gets clothes very clean even after farm chores! We have small children and stains are no match for this washer. Love it!

Great Features & Lowered Water Bill
from Pompano Beach, FL
I purchased this washer at the end of January 2016. It has more bells and whistles than my Kenmore (which I was very pleased with). This has larger capacity which is terrific as I can do larger loads and throw in a king size comforter. My water bill is down 5% which is fantastic, so it is very efficient from that standpoint.
2nd one is a charm
from Western North Dakota
The first one that arrived... well, it was a lemon. The under-armor logo literally melted and I had to peel it apart from the shirt, leaving a second logo behind. Permanently wrinkled. Had to wait for a "repairman" who of course gave up. The new one arrived a month after the first. We lost several shirts from melting, permanent wrinkling and shrinkage. The motherboard just called for hot water no matter what the cycle. But the replacement appears to be working great as the review suggest it should. The fan fresh is a nice feature.
So far love my new washer and dryer
from San Diego CA
Have had my Whirlpool set for almost 2 months. It is my first experience with a front load washer. I read reviews about the noise level being horrible. Our set is in the garage and the noise level hasn't been an issue for us even when we are near it. I am extremely happy with how dry the spin cycle gets the clothes. Heard some stories that the washers get out of alignment so hoping that won't be the case, and that life expectancy is only 4 to 6 years once again hoping that's not the case. So far love my new set. Only improvement for me would be different design on rubber gasket around door so it wouldn't hold water once cycle was complete. And a mention on the Affresh packaging that when you use an Affresh tablet it does bang around for several minutes during the cleaning cycle which was a little concerning (but love the clean smell once done).
Great Unit, needs better documentiation
from Jacksonville, NC
love this washer. eels like a quality appliance. Took a little too long to "get" how it works. Needs better documentation and or a quick start guide. Took awhile to get the first load going, no clear explanation of how to turn it on and start a cycle.
