Comments about Yamaha 2 Channel Stereo Receiver:

I bought this unit to replace an older stereo system in my shed that had gotten fried by a lightning strike. It also plays over speakers on my back patio. Receiver was very easy to set up. One problem was the "auto stand-by" that shut the unit down every 8 hours. Once I figured out my problem and went into the menu with the remote, I changed the setting for 24 hour continuous play. My other complaint was the weak reception, but I attributed this to the fact of living in a coastal parish outside New Orleans, and more precisely, having the unit inside my metal shed. An outdoor FM antenna (Winegard HD-6010) cured that problem. On the plus side, the sound is great, much better through my outdoor patio speakers than I expected! The Bass and Treble controls help fine tune the sound. Overall, I'm very pleased with the purchase and am considering adding the CD player to "upgrade" the system.

Comments about Yamaha 2 Channel Stereo Receiver:

Usually you get what you pay for, but this time you get more. This receiver sounds great, has the ability to handle the audio output of three computers AND has a very decent AM/FM tuner.

Admittedly, since the inputs are RCA audio, you may need some adapter cords for computer use, but with the money you'll save on this reveiver, you'll be able to afford them.

I use this for the audio output of two computers and to listen to classical music on FM.

I keep it running 24/7 (the best way to make your electronics last much longer) and it stays quite cool at decent listening levels.

True, the lack of advanced HDMI and Optical inputs prevents this from being classified as a modern Home Theater receiver, but that's NOT what it's supposed to be. What it is meant to be and what it excels at is an economy receiver of remarkable quality.

It isn't deafeningly loud but with reasonably efficient speakers, it is plenty loud enough for a living room and would also work great in a bedroom.

One reviewer mentioned that the speaker connectors couldn't handle decent sized wire BUT I found out this was NOT true; you can connect 14-16 guage speaker wire easily IF you tin-solder the ends OR if you are patient.

    Definitely worth the money!!

Using my R-S201BL as a bedroom / TV amp through headphones. Working great, and exceeds my expectations.

Not a con since it is documented, but be aware that the only balance control is on the remote.

Comments about Yamaha 2 Channel Stereo Receiver:

This unit delivers GREAT sound at a really fair price! If you seek a basic unit that performs, this is a terrific choice. I am not so enthusiastic about the remote (the battery compartment will not seat properly, and there is no way to switch from AM, FM or CD to another component using the remote) but that is of minor importance to me and most users. It WILL handle as many as three other components!

I use this receiver to power a five room built-in speaker system. Each room has an impedance balancing volume control. The receiver provides nice sound throughout the house at a comfortable volume level. I have not tried the unit at maximum output for long periods.

Comments about Yamaha 2 Channel Stereo Receiver:

I just wanted a basic system to play the radio and CDs in the bedroom, and this fits the bill. One drawback: the output from the TV in the bedroom is digital optical, and there is no connection for that on this unit. So if I want to run the TV through the speakers I have to buy a converter.

Comments about Yamaha 2 Channel Stereo Receiver:

I was searching for a 2 channel amplifier or receiver to replace my aging unit in my living room system. After examining a number of choices, the R-S201 met all my needs at a very good price. After setting it up I was extremely pleased with the design and audio performance that it could give me. My only reservation is the FM/AM performance with the supplied antennas was not very good, because I live in a rural area. If you are not close to an urban location, you would need to use external antennas. Having said that, you cannot beat this unit for the price.
