Comments about Yamaha Dolby Digital 5.1 Receiver:

I purchased the RX-V375 to replace a Sony (2005) receiver that had gone bad. The RX-V375 has just the right feature set. That is, it does not have a bunch of internet connectivity features that I don't need but it does have all the device/speaker connectivity and surround modes that I desire. With TVs, Blu-Ray players, and other devices all offering internet apps, I just don't need yet another set in my receiver. I appreciate that this model doesn't duplicate any internet functionality that I have elsewhere.

There are many inputs availble and they can all be used independently of each other if requried. With 4 HDMI, 4 A/V, 2 audio, 1 USB (front), and 1 mini-audio port in front you can connect a multitude of devices to this thing. I purchased the RX-V375 over the newer RX-V377 because it had 2 optical digital inputs versus the 377's one. It also features 2 coaxial digital inputs.

I've owned 2 other surround sound receivers (both Sonys) prior to purchasing this one. Overall, I'd say the sound quality of the Yamaha is the no better and no worse than the Sonys. There's plenty of power for most living rooms and set ups. Those with very large living rooms and inefficient speakers may wish to look at more powerful units. The AM tuner is pretty worthless but unfortunately that is true of most home theater receivers in this day and age.

The YPAO automatic speaker set up feature works very well and is extremely accurate in calibrating the speaker distances and setting up good audio levels for your speakers. Of course, you are free to customize the settings as you desire.

I'm very pleased with my purchase and hope it provides me with many years of reliable service.

Comments about Yamaha Dolby Digital 5.1 Receiver:

I was tired of my wife complaining, "I can't hear that" as my previous system couldn't distinguish voice from surround sound. This does a great job of hearing voice as well as awesome surround sound.

Comments about Yamaha Dolby Digital 5.1 Receiver:

My rx-v375 outputs to a Samsung 58" plasma TV and a 5.1 sound system with small Infinity speakers and a 12" Klipsch subwoofer. Inputs are a Blue-Ray disc player, satellite TV and a CD player. I wanted a basic, great sounding receiver with intuitive controls and enough power to get as much volume as I could handle without audible distortion. This receiver does all of those things. Cable connection and setup were easy. Good FM reception using only the short antenna wire is a bonus. Channels come in very clearly from up to 30 miles away. Our great room is 18 x 38 and plenty of sound presence everywhere, bass to shake the walls if we want.

Frankly, a better mix of features for the price than the 377 which replaced it. Screens and setups are simple and intuiitive, and the manuals are comprehensive and well-organized. Very pleased with the value and performance.

Comments about Yamaha Dolby Digital 5.1 Receiver:

This has great sound when it works properly, but FM radio only comes out of one channel clearly on my stereo setup (hence the "clear sound" and "poor sound" ratings). I've double checked all connections, but one speaker is great, the other is a tinny echo. As I consider FM radio a major and frequently used feature of my receiver, I had to rate this with 1 start - "not good" according to Yamaha's descriptions (2 stars is "needs that special something", but FM radio isn't special, it's basic).
